On topic: Why did we do this?

The poll for Organized Religion? We simply have to increase the speed of our building production, or we would be left far behind. All the courthouses, banks, grocers, marketplaces and buildings in general are now facing 25 % faster builds, or 20 % in some cases. Organized Religion and Serfdom ties in nicely in handling this job, speeding up our development.

And about us making all these changes in your absence? Because they had to be timed like this. The forces I was left was not properly healed, and I would probably have waited 3-5 turns before attacking Germany, in order to preserve some troops and let some reinforcements catch up. Ideally, as you know, I would have liked to complete the Roman War, then turned on the Germans later. Now that we got into the German War, some of us decided to make the best out of it, and utilize the period pacifying Berlin and healing our units to to the massive civic change. This was a game-technical decision.

About doing this in your absence? We had nothing better to do with the realm, and I saw several opportunities for improvements I have made several initiatives for in cooperation and consensus with others.

  • The idle settler is now settling None of the Below, with already improved silver and sugar resources.

  • I renamed military units, of which some were not even numbered, and gave them more unique names, which people seemed to prefer in the polls.

  • I realized that we had war-veterans and ideal frontline troops doing garrison service in Occupied France, making these high quality troops redundant for the war efforts. I put into motion a relocation and garrison production program, in cooperation with Methos and others.

  • I made sure promotions of units and their locations made sense, anti-cavalry troops towards Rome and city-takers to Germany

  • I also made sure I minimized losses in the Berlin campaign, inheriting a battered army that could need a moments breath and reinforcements before assaulting.

For my personal choice of timing (I am hardly a mouse, and I guess you are not a cat either), I had some spare time to make these proposals, and I must admit we had strong arguments and several polls before we got here. It was not easy. At the same time, it was healthy for the demogame to get other alternatives to choose from. That you were away was not necessarily opportune, but made the process easier, as you seemed not to listen to the need for serfdom and organized religion in particular. As you already know, I lost the vassalage poll by a massive margin. I was also forced to attack the longbowman with the Keshik, in place of blocking it, and scouting with the same keshik. So nothing personal, just a demogame. Soon I am vacating in France, and you are free to undo the civics (as Serfdom by that time would have outlived its role, with our infrastructure in good shape by then).

This is politics, for the good and the bad.
