To be honest maybe we should just have a whole thread dedicated to these kinds of requests. Anyway here's what I'm looking for today:

I want a real casual game. One that's not complicated and can be played in a relaxed mood. The closest matches I can think of are maybe Sid Meier's SimGolf or Dwarfs?! on steam. On the PC of course and preferably under $20. Thanks for any suggestions.

The Undergarden maybe?
Just about the most relaxed and mellow game around, slightly trippy and very pretty to boot

That is one of the WORST games I (and everyone else I was talking to during the Steam treasure hunt last December) have ever played. The only "relaxing" thing about it is you could just sit there and watch and listen to it. If you can stand the creepy character thing.

And I quote the following reviews:

Mine:
DO NOT BUY. This is the LAMEST game (demo) that I have ever played from Steam. I don't care if its on for 99 cents, DO NOT BUY.

I give it a 1/10, its worse then Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing (which I haven't played).

FriendlyFire:
I had BETTER win STEAM prize of 5 free wishlistgames !!!!!

Steam made me play it because of the stupid play this demo get another ticket in the raffle archivement thingy.

all I can say "ITS A TRAP"

THEEVERGOD:

I hope that the developers of this game read this before I come to there house and SHOOT THEM FOR MAKING ME ENDURE, AND TRYING TO KEEP ME IN THIS PIECE OF CRAP! BTW, THANKS FOR THE NON-EXSISTANT TUTORIAL, HELPED OUT GREAT WHEN IT TOLD ME TO USE THE WARP KEEP, GRAB KEY and CHARGE KEY!

If you want to rip the hair from your balls, this is the game for you, not only does it not make logical sense in ANYWAY, it doesn't let you escape, it’s an endless loop of keeping you in, OMG LEMME ME OUT, AND GET THIS THING OFF MY PC!

Scubaguy:

This is a horrible game. If I had to play this or get a hot sauce enema, I would get the enema. I
feel as though the developer owes me money for playing the demo. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

Este es un juego horrible. Si tuviera que jugar este u obtener un enema de salsa picante, me gustaría tener el enema. I
se siente como si el desarrollador me debe dinero por jugar la demo. NO COMPRAR EL JUEGO.

nikbot:

The single WORSTE game i have ever played. The fact that someone got payed to produce this pile of rubbish........

=== EDIT2:

As for actually relaxing games, there is a freeride mode on Audiosurf, which is a fun indie music game on Steam. Polynomial is another music game but as a space shooter thing, but its good and still somewhat chill but actiony if that makes any sense.

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity is easy to get into and a lot of fun. Same with World of Goo.

Poker Night at the Inventory, I had no idea how to play poker and it was a pretty fun and chill game.

Zen Bound 2 is extremely chill, although I'd recommend getting it on sale. Same with Osmos, also a good game but I don't think its quite worth $9.99.

And Minecraft, but you already own it.

EDIT3: DEFCON is a good game too and so are the Sam & Max and Secret of Monkey Island point and click adventure games.

Solitaire :mischief:

Plants vs Zombies is very fun - just a simple tower defence game.
DEFCON, as suggested above, is pretty brilliant.
Osmos is another favourite of mine. It's just a game where your bubble has to absorb smaller bubbles while avoiding big bubbles, but it's very relaxing.

I hate you.

Eh?

Ok, thanks everyone.

Seriously? I'm amazed anyone could get worked up over something so inoffensive. It's very pretty, it's simplistic and it's utterly insubstantial but then it doesn't try to be anything more than that. It won't win any awards but it's a lovely leave-brain-and-reflexes-at-door sort of thing. Anyway I'm not going to argue about it but here's the RPS review on it.

Undergarden wasn't that terrible, in my opinion.

I've definitely played worse, though.

I hate you.

You have to remember, in Akka's world, anyone who plays any casual game for any reason, at all, ever, is contributing to The Demise of All Gaming As We Know It.

Because, as we all know, games that don't require hundreds of hours of your life or weeks of tutorials and phone-book size manuals are inherently evil and are only played by brain-dead morons who can barely manage tic-tac-toe.

That's why he hates.
