Yet another Orbis PBEM

We met scouts from Amurite tribe. These strange people value parchment more than weapon and worthless “mana” crystals more than true gems. Awkward indeed, but given these strange customs, they might be a valuable trading partner.
Welcome, strangers. Let there be peace between us.

‘Sire’ – said the foreign affair advisor – ‘sadly, we have to report our political situation is not good at all.’
‘As you know, north-east is inhabited by the slim folk living on treetops. They seems to be very reserved to our way of life, claiming we spoil the countryside with our mines and quarries. We cannot expect any help from their side.’
‘Desert is inhabited by our archenemy: the horsetribes. It speaks by itself.’
‘In the south we have encountered two tribes. Firstly, the dreadful Sheaim who value nothing but destruction. They may be a deadly enemy with their decadent approach.’
‘There are also Grigori living there. At first they seemed to be friendly, but as soon as I started to consider them a potential ally, they gave very aggressive statement directed against all their neighbors. They may not be trusted at the moment.’
‘To the north, the land behind the Goblin River is inhabited by orcs. Another archenemy.’
‘I propose to send emissaries to newly met Mechanos people. They seem to share similar values and mutual border protection pact against the elves and Hippus may be beneficial for both our nations.’

Lgaard, I did not receive the save. I received a text document that pretended to be a save ;)

The door to the palace's interior chamber where strategy was planned burst open abruptly. The Empress Maer sat in attendance with her Foreign Minister and Her Defense Minister discussing the findings of the abundance of Beasts in the area, not the least of which were the three separate sightings of Giant Scorpions nearby. Considering the unfortunate loss of our worker to lions which had been controlled and sent into the kingdom, the discussion was heated to say the least.

The messenger bowed deeply and announced "Your Highness, we have a diplomatic matter of much urgency, as he handed over the sealed diplomatic scroll tube earing runes from Khazad.

She opened the tube and unrolled the document standing and walking over to the map on the wall behind her. She started by putting her finger on the area marked with the dark green border of The Elves, whom she suspected of controlling the lions. "They are North-East of The Khazad, but West of us and already have proven they cannot be trusted."

"The Great Desert, in which our southernmost city resides, only a few leagues to the south-west are the Horsetribes..., which as we know are warlike."

"based off this we can expect the Khazad to be located about here..."she touched the area of the map that was largely unknown...

South of them are the Anarchistic Sheaim, which should be feared and watched carefully, lest they open up the gates of legend...and The Ever Adventurous Grigori. They are always an unknown quantity."

"Due North of the lands of the Dwarves is a barren land inhabited by the most feared creatures The Orcs..."

She then pointed to the Southeast where the Amurites lived saying "The Wizards" and then across the Eastern Mountain Range at the fringe of the desert, saying..."The Twisted Carnival..The Balseraphs are here"

"North of us is The Northern Sea, by what we can tell....It seams we are in much the same situation as they, surrounded by others, though perhaps the Wizards could be allies....and who knew about Perpentach, since he fled The Tower of Eyes he was quite insane...at times lucid and at others, ....not."

She looked and nodded..."I will see this emissary at the first chance...a mutual protection pact is in good order for our similar cultures."

The mage-king welcomes the emissary from the Khazad. May your vaults be overflowing with gold and riches. It is a pity though that such a proud nation refuses to inquire into more sophisticated areas of Magick.

The sages say that in an elven village in a far away land a hero was born.

It takes a while to translate the dwarven pictograms into the common surface tongue, but the result is as follows:

‘Mutual Border Protection Pact

Sides:
Dwarven Kingdom of Khazad
Human Technocracy of Mechanos

Sides oath to aid each other in case of war declared against either of Sides by Elven Commune of Ljosalfar or Human Khanate of Hippus. The aid will mean declaration of war on the aggressor and its allies and subsequent military actions.

Sides also agree upon providing diplomatic support in case of war declared by any third party on either of Sides.’

Mike, is it a deal? Feel free to make (linguistic?) corrections, if you wish. :)

Calabim land is in total turmoil. Anarchy reigns here unopposed... Some tormented souls even start to worship a tree called Ygdrasil or somewhat like that. (which is located near to one of our cities)
We hope that soon a leader will emerge... we need such person badly. Without him no diplomacy is possible.

We see that our people are showing interest in sophisticated ways of Amurites. Wise mage-king, please look kindly at our nation. We respect you and feel that you are worthy of our frendship, maybe only too soft-hearted (but time will show if it is true impression)

Uh. We met another civilization. They claim to be ancient Patrians and seem to be... ehm... undead.

Maer looks at the map again and taps above the Balseraphs, "I believe the Doviello to be here if our scouts are accurate."

Then she hurries to take out a pen and sign it amending the document with one further clause.

It takes a while to translate the dwarven pictograms into the common surface tongue, but the result is as follows:

‘Mutual Border Protection Pact

Sides:
Dwarven Kingdom of Khazad
Human Technocracy of Mechanos

The Parties swear oath to aid each other in case of war declared against either of Sides by Elven Commune of Ljosalfar or Human Khanate of Hippus. The aid will mean declaration of war on the aggressor and its allies and subsequent military actions.

Either Party also agree upon providing diplomatic support in case of war declared by any third party on either of the signers, hereafter referred to as 'The Alliance.’

Furthermore, the Alliance swear oath to each other to put no other agreement made with another nation before this one.

Agreed!!!

yeah, I can see this as being my favorite PBEM game ;)

1. "out of character" notes:
- game sent to Lgaard
- please remember that Calabim leader is Alexis, and from now refer to me as to the woman :)

2. Mighty Calabim people enter a period of renewed stability. They adopted new social system. It is thanks to the Alexis, old leader from times even before Age of Ice. Now, Calabim worship her almost as a god. In Calabim society two new classes emerge: slaves and peasants.

Alexis, as a wise and experienced leader will soon try to establish diplomatic relation with other known nations. The messengers have been sent.
First, the messenger to Amurites mage-king.
"Welcome, Thy majesty. My queen, let she live forever, sends greetings. She hopes, that we could form a defensive union, so someone opposes combined forces of dwarves and Mechanos. They are too powerfull to be leaved alone. They must be controled - if not, whole magic of Erebus would be at risk! We hope that Amurites would not allow that. Please, answer soon"

I wonder who besides me survived Age of Ice. I heard that old Perpy is still alive. He would be a good ally if not his sudden mood shifts. Amurites seems to be interesting - their fascination with magic is similar to my new interests.
(from Alexis thoughts)

there is much drinking of Meade and Dwarven Beer

Turn 23 sent to Mcwill

"Welcome, Thy majesty. My queen, let she live forever, sends greetings. She hopes, that we could form a defensive union, so someone opposes combined forces of dwarves and Mechanos. They are too powerfull to be leaved alone. They must be controled - if not, whole magic of Erebus would be at risk! We hope that Amurites would not allow that. Please, answer soon"

The mage-king took time to consider the issue. And as much as he frowns upon unwarranted practice of magic outside the Mage Guild, he finds more repulsive the budding alliance of craftsmen and clockworkers. It has been decided, Amurites will join ranks with the Calabim against the rising threat.

There is one condition though: excessive use of magic, outside the Guild, necromantic magic in particular, will force Amurite mages to intervene.
