Yet another Orbis PBEM

Flash to Iskender.

Grigori now have more slaves than good ol' Rome, back in the day.

I agree. this is the fastest moving PBEM Ive seen, Im liking it!!

and Lgaard, you do fine. I appreciate the role playing. Orbis (and FFH) lend themselves well to that...

Liking it too! By the way (a bit out of the way actually), mike, NC is the one state besides NY and FL I've been to, took a train from the latter to hang out with some friends in Chapel Hill. Lots of fun and cold, got to watch a Tar Heels game. Actually, come to think about it, I bought the Civ IV expansions in that trip :D In Raleigh I guess, went to buy a laptop and couldn't help but add to my civ collection.

The bravest Amurite scout set out to cross the Western Desert to seek other civilizations and to locate valuable mana nodes.

You prolly must have meant The Eastern Desert, mage. ;)

btw, the map seems to be very nice and climatic this game. I hope we will work out a common system of naming the geografic features.

Calabim empire suffers period of stagnation. No new technologies, most units sits at home, etc.

Heh, got at least one friend from there I'd be tempted to marry :mischief:

Let's make a compromise and call it the Northern Desert.

*ahem* thats southern desert ;)

Looking from the top of the Tower of Eyes I could see most of this vast arid land. I propose to call it the Horsetribe Desert. Any objections?

Your Majesty of Godly Powers Wisest Thane of all Khazad,

Let me have an honour to make the report of my explorations.
Leaving behind both the Silvery Pass and Glittering Pass I have directed eastward along the range of mountains the natives know as the Alfarwall. At my righthand side I could still see the vast areas of the Horsetribe Desert. As the mountains gradually changed into the rolling hills I started to recognize some of the features our old legends describes as the Underhome Plateau. My suspections were confirmed true as soon as I was informed by the locals there are the Gates to the Underdark located nearby, southwards in the desert. Finally, I've found the place. Locals (called themself Mechanos) were friendly and assured they will not crawl into the depths. They welcomed me and proposed peace between our nations.
Then, I propmted further eastward. The land was still arid and flat. To my surprise, suddenly I found very tall tower in the middle of nowhere. It must be the fabled Tower of Eyes our legends locate east of the entrance to our ancient kingdom. Climbing up the stairs I could see the whole countryside miles miles away. Desert seems to be really vast, but I've noticed some green fields very far east. For a moment I had an impression that the horizon glimmed in magenta. Maybe the land of wizardry is there?
I will explore the lands further east. Let your majesty expect another report soon.

Yours faithfully,
Pepin the Short, scout in your service

Scouts report finding another kingdom, I believe its the Elves who sent lions into our kingdom...Of the other scouts, 1 reports finding the northern sea, where tigers and wolves abound, and the other is crossing the great desert of the horselords just ahead of the fearful giant scorpions that abound there. Our workers continue to try and link our cities with roads.....

The adventurous Llangru takes upon him the ultimate oath of spreading across the lands the glory and might of the Grigori. Our people invest their dreams and hopes in this incorruptible swashbuckler, that he may lead our young men to conquest and plunder of kingdoms both in reach and far beyond the imagination of simplefolk! The farmers all throughout cherish at the sight of our troupe, led by the free spirit of this man that stands for everything we are and hope to become. Farewell, friend and hero of the people, swift winds may guide your bold foray!

A serious diplomatic crisis! A spy was caught in a chamber just outside the mage-king's bedroom. Upon examination involving Sun and Body mana the spy confessed that his masters are the vampire lords Calabim. The spy was promptly executed in public to boost morale of the common Amurite folk and to pour despair in hearts of those Calabim who still have them. This event puts a strain on the relations between the two nations.

Conquest and plunder? The milestones marking Khazad borders are indeed within the eyesight of those inhabiting westernmost of your cities. Let there be known to you that after such hostile declaration Khazad Southern Stronghold is to be immediately manned (hem... dwarved?) with our warriors. Do not try to intimidate us. We are prepared.

There is no central goverment in the Calabim lands at the moment. Various factions fight for power and Calabim nation lacks a true leader. So, the actions of one local lord (like sending spies) cannot be ascribed to whole Calabim nation. We hope that Amurites are not too dumb to understand this.
On the other hand, it could be just a mistake. Well-trained spy will, after a dosage of torture, claim that he comes from country X rather than admit his true nationality. And we all know very well that Balseraphs has the best spies on Erebus. So...
there would be no official diplomatic statement from Calabim authorities. Think yourself what is the most probable course of action.

Llangru is yet to unbrave the expanses and assess what lay ahead of our men, but let there be known the Grigori have not in their heart the desire to harass good folk, man or dwarf. We are making a first push for orcish scum, and have set our eyes next on hideous Sheaim neighbors. To eradicate the foul and convert their dominion into our cause is the duty of the adventurer!
