I was wondering if any of you wanted to follow through on sas' suggestion to start a new PreWWI game with generally the same guys. It would make sense now that two people are to some extent out of the game (Germanos and sas), and one is about to be gone, so we could have the time to get a new one started, one in which we all have learned crucial lessons from the previous one, i.e. how to defend more effectively, and how little to trust Darius and Rhodry. :D

If you want, the civs for each player could be the same or different. Personally I kinda don't want to do Russia again (too damn easy).

If most of us want to play but not one or two, we can always get some other players to enter. A separate thread indicated that there was interest in this scenario among some newbies.

Sorry, but have you already won the game?

NO!!!!!

Please, wait a couple of turns.

too damn easy

Mmm... it sounds too arrogant Darius.

:nya: Sorry. Besides I don't mean it's easy to win to the end, but my original campaigns agains AH, Germany, and France were a just a breeze. You're right, I haven't won, and I've even admitted there that I could still very well lose. But it isn't arrogant because I wasn't praising myself; I was noting that Russia itself is easy to play in the scenario.

Let's just say I don't want to do Russia again much because it's boring to do it twice...

Anyhow I just thought that sas meant we could start the second game anytime, not just when the first one is completely over (which will be a long, long time still).

As you said before, you were lucky. Germany/Austria/France didn´t have trench systems. I don´t know if you´ll be able to do it again.
Anyway, these are only especulations

Seriously, Sas and Yop haven´t quit yet. Italy is intact, so please wait a couple of turns. That´s all i want.

I don´t know about Sas, but Yop told me to resist and gave me his password.

No prob, I just thought that sas meant we could start the second game anytime. I just thought one premise of having a new game is that we would all learn our lessons and have more trench systems this time around. Anyhow, I can wait, no problem.

BTW sas is still playing the French remnants, which (to my chagrin) includes half of spain and the entire French Mediterranean Fleet, so he still will have a lot to do. But I didn't know Yop left, when did this happen? I know he was on a trip, but he's back now.

I also must inform you guys that I'll be away from 1 august - 10 august. Ioanes, could you play my turns too????????

GNB2 Post #317

Oh yeah. Actually I oughta know since I'm doing his turns there. :o I guess I just mixed up this trip with the one he had a few weeks ago or something, and all the posts where he said he was back subconsciously made me think he was back from this trip. :crazyeye:

 :crazyeye:
Don´t worry Darius. It seems that we are in some kind of a "trip-time"

Cool man, Britain was hard, could never get a huge army going....maybe Austria Hungary would be interesting

Fellow gamers,

I do not wish to play the pre-WW I game a second time.
To be honest, I was quite releived I was smashed by Russia, and the almost complete destruction of Germany allowed for a honourable retreat from the game (thanks for your PM Rhodry ;), I really appriciated it).
I do not like the scenario, and I did not do so from the start: It is clearly a scenario that draws all its qualities from fighting a war, and a very large scale war at that. The immense amounts of troops in the begining on all sides makes it clear a war will be fought soon, and the alliances have basically been set from the beginning.
Another thing I didn't like is the presence of the railroads, which has been so well exploited by Darius' Army. I find them unrealistic, and I think Darius' campaign has shown why. The first blow, by any nation or Alliance will be most likely decisive.
And the last thing that greatly unbalances the game is the Playing-order. The Tripple alliance (which may not be broken due to the house-rules) moves in consecutive turns, and the other tripple alliance as well. This makes the earlier stated unrealistic settings even more unbalancing.

I hope to meet you guys sometime in another PBEM. Most of you I have been playing before (Sas and Rhodry in ZWK VI, now dead due to cheating two players :() or am currently playing with/against (Yop and Darius in Imperialism 1870) so that leaves Academia ;). Three PBEM's at one time is really the max for me (otherwise the games get stalled to much due to lack of playing time, I really am a micromanagement freak :)) and since I will hold the Science Advisor position in the Civ2 Democracy game soon, I have my hands full right now (not to mention my provider has cut my access to the net, and I have to resort to Internet-cafe's :().

Happy Civvin' and enjoy your PBEM's, Germanos.

I would like to play a new game, but i feel the unlimited movement with railways is ruining the game. Unlimited movement with railways is the mejor reason for Russian incredible advance through europe.

If we can fix that problem, i will play again. But with the unlimited movement with railways, i dont think i want to.

I have had the same reservations about this scenario for a million reasons. But more Trench Systems still could neutralize the railroad problem somewhat.

What about Age of War? It is virtually identical to this one in map and historical setting (in fact many are mad at Sean thinking he ripped it off when making this scenario, and I kinda do too), and there are not hordes of units at the beginning so indeed it is more realistic militarily. It also has more focus on non-war situations as many of us would like.

Sounds great. I havent played that scenario, but i'm willing to give it a try.. :)

if we play age of war I get first dibs on Spain

We were waiting for the other game to end but it has now I think with academia gone, so I'm ready to start anytime. I'll start a new thread though so it could attract more potential players: "Age of War PBEM", so go there.
