Two ideas;
1. trade with everyone, don't stop trading with that other civ. Find something good you can do with the civ that is demanding that you stop to counter act you trading with the civ they hate.
2. I consider these "requests" from other Civs to convert, stop trading, or change civics, a request for me to kill them. If they become persistant, build and army and crush them. This will teach others not to make demands of you as well.
If you're not looking for a conquest victory, try other ideas to make the demanding civ happy with you. I hate having to give up whatever trade I set up with one Civ because another is being a baby about it.
