If desktop PCs had a built-in UPS, and when the power goes out and it switches to the UPS, the OS gives the user a warning and if the user doesn't press any buttons, the OS figures they're not there and it saves everything to hard drive (like hibernation) and automatically shuts it down before the battery runs out and thus there is little damage. Sorta like laptop battery power settings.

I know I'm sorta rambling, but wouldn't that be cool? :D Should I try to sell the idea to a company? Or has it been done already in some way or another?

Yeah its been done: its called a UPS. A computer doesnt have a 'built-in' anything. Most of the components can be switched out.
You also have to consider, who would make them. The case manufacturers? I havent seen a case manufacturer do a decent job with PSU's. PSu manufacturers? Sure, but then the PSU's will cost a crapload and be 3x as big. Motherboard manufacturers? Thats not even close to their thing.
Another reason they already sell them separately -- capacity. Were I running a business, I wouldnt want 30 product lines to satisfy all the combinations of X product and UPS. Id sell a separate line of UPS's and a separate line of my other product and make them interconnectable -- kinda like they already are.

So you know what would be cool -- you dont post every random thought you get. Or at least run them by someone IRL before you do.
