I used to play 5-6 hours a day, but now with work and school I'm lucky if I get to play a couple hours on the weekend. I don't get to play enough I still haven't even bought C3C yet.

I don't bathe, I only sleep a few hours. You forgot that option :D

You're absolutely correct. I'm sure there are other options I forgot such as marrying someone who could play for you while you sleep.
I think once you get beyond the 40 hours per week, you enter into a zone that is beyond being a fanatic. I'm not sure what would be the best name.

I can only play my Civ when I'm at my boyfriend's apartment. When I'm there, he can hardly get my off his 'puter. I've been known to play this game all day and all night, then sleep through the following day, and play all night again.

I would say you have the heart of a true fanatic. I hope someday soon you have your own computer so that you might live out your obsession.

Those would qualify as the lifelesscivdrones lol.

I am an undergraduate. I have time for Civ. The problem is I don't have a computer where I study. So I play only in weekends when I am home. 5-6 hs/day*2 days = a bit above 10 hs/week. Sometimes more - winter break i did 12h straight. I am not fully obsessed, only to a sensible limit. :)

If the Poll was about how much time I use THINKING on Civ3 it would be much higher, since I actually find the most inspiring factors in the game to analyze the strategy

You're right about that. I guess if you were to add up the time we all spend playing, planning, thinking, talking and writing about the game (even dreaming), it would be shocking.:goodjob:

I'm wondering if anyone has any images of what they think a true civ fanatic looks like. OR perhaps an ideal look we should strive towards.
I'm also curious as to the time relationship between the forums and game play.
Lately, I've been spending about:
40% game play, 40% forum & 20% on maps & units, etc.

What's your fanatic ration?

Hi, my name is Nuke and I'm a Civaholic. Its been three weeks since my last game. I started playing the game a year ago and couldn't stop. I'd pretty much mastered it through the emperor level without assistance (just to give you an indication of the time spent learning the techniques). The only way I could stop playing it was to uninstall and to break the CD. Now I'm sad and trying to figure out how to get a Civ fix. And that's why I'm here.

CURSE YOU SID MEIER!!!!

Anybody know when CivIV is scheduled to come out?

@ Nuke ... I can relate.
Beware, because the forums can be as additive as the game.
By the way, welcome to the forums.
I'm honored that you have chosen this thread for your 1st post.
:)

When I'm in a period of playing (not at the moment) I normally spend pretty much all my time playing which probably comes to more than 40 hours per week.

Every now and then I'll play a game, put in 40+ hours/week (games for me usually last less than a week though), then after I'm done I don't touch Civ again for a few months.
