Well, don't remember ever posting in a previous poll, but if I had I would have gone Ljosalfar. That has now changed, as I've plumped for:

Amurites: Every unit a Swiss Army knife! Supremely versatile, and able to field a formidible magical force without completely comprosmising their conventional army (not that the Amurites have a "conventional" army).

Grigori: /TinaTurnerOn "We DO need another hero" /TinaTurnerOff. Took a bit of getting into and adjusting my play style, but I was sold the first time I saw a lone warrior smack down a hill giant without breaking stride. Religion? Pfft! Give me a warm tavern and a cold axe*, and I'll give you the world**!
* Happiness resources may be required
** I'll need to tech up a bit first

Svartalfar: much of the fun of the Ljosalfar (big cities with idyllic surroundings in which you can slaughter those foolish enough to invade with laughable ease), but just meaner and cooler. The sinister promotion from the hunting lodge excellently complements the reliance on recon units (truly deadly assassins and shadows), and Kael is a city-flattener once he gets going. I'm very much looking forward to their treatment in Shadow (like building my own elven workers - not that I have any problem sending slaving raids into Ljosalfar lands, but they may not be conveniently close by ;) )

If you could run advanced start and begin as them, they might be more popular. But you have to come in late in the game when you have already been working on another Civ for so long. It winds up being contrary to most people's strat thus far.
