Hi all again.

Im new1 here but quite experienced in civ2. I would like to know what your best high scores were if u ever played the whole long game. In my last game(deity level) i reached about 3000 points (equals sth over about 300%) but stopped in 1970 couse a lack of a patience. I think i would reach about 600% couse my population grew very fast (when i stopped i have population about 190,000, 000) + spaceships points. What are your best scores and do u have enough patience for whole game?

Doesnt anyone want to post achieved score on this forum. Let see how strong players do we have here...

(this one goes to another thread but still....your best score at civ 2 should be printed on your ID card)

Many people here don't play for highest score. The scorepadding endgame becomes far too tedius.

So what do you play for than? I find myself playing just to beat AI even more boring since they cant play and engage in a combat (probably they could be wipped out before AD).

Which type of game is the most exciting to play than? OCC, ELG, SCENARIOS or SOMETHING ELSE? I would appreciate any comments couse i never played those types. But i read some posts about OCC and ELG and if u obey the instructions, and i guess u must in order to suceed, those games become quite automatic and "non-elastic", dont they?

I play for the challange. I play with seven civs, so I get as many nations as possible for the diplomacy etc. If you have a good comp. opponant, it can get kind of interesting, especialy when it is a little larger than your own as to give a little challange (of course, that hasn't happened in a while. Such, scns. are very good. I supose you could say that I play just to play.

I agree I play for the challenge of it. I am easily bored with shoot em up games and this one combines all the elements I really like. Not just about war but also about domestic issues. My scores are never super high but that doesn't bother me

We are fanatics right?:) so we dont play for score:) :P he-he

Really, how need this score anyway? what matters that you like to play on it.
For example, i can kill all civ. fast... and my score will be super high... but i can also play scenario, like ww2 and then, you really need to play hard when germany have like 30 tanks 10 air.,great cites e.t.c. and you have only some poor cites and 4 tanks... and from this situation you need to get in vicrory - i deed:-)

yep it's not interesting to play for score, i remeber i tried to, but then i scored more 200% rating, but that was very anoying, to beat almost all civs, to be under democratic goverment, and to build a spaceship.... uchu

now i only play scenarios and chose the most chalanging side

The highest possible score has been calculated: it is well over 30 000 points.
Both Ming and rah have played one game over 20 000pts (they are brothers and it was some kind of competition between them, but it took them months and both of them swear that they will never do it again).

DoM has a 'High Score' game going. Perhaps he would be willing to tell us where he stands and how bored he is :crazyeye:

I never worry about score either. I like to play just for fun. I find it tedious to always think about what effects score. I mean, I try not to do things that will lower my score, but I don't worry about things that raise it so much. Sometimes it's fun to challenge oneself with keeping a perfect rep. throughout a game, even though it doesn't contribute to score. When I don't go for score, I find each game is more individual from the others.

Best Score 11.888 pts - Deity, Raging Hordes, 7 civs, map 125x80, warm, wet, 3 Billion years. Pop about 1.6 Billion.
The pop counter stops at 320 million for some time, then it begins again with 10.000.

High Score Games will take a long time for every turn (with more than 200 cities I needed about 2-3 hours a turn. You must move some hundred units, most of them freights and engineers. And nearly every turn you must kill some hundreds of partisans. But its's boring - at this point of the game there shouldn'be any mighty enemies (only one AI city, the pet city, left).

You've said it.It's so boring to play with an AI pet city since I'm milking the game for more points

P.S I got Future Tech at 1500 A.D :D
