What are all the details on how you’re planning to play your first game of Rise and Fall?

Mine are:

Civilization: Cree
Difficulty: Prince
Speed: Standard
Map: Terra if available, Continents if not
Size: Normal
Other Civs: The seven remaining new civs
Victory pursued: Domination (Take that, Tootoosis!)
First Governor: Liang the Surveyor

Government District Buildings:
  • Ancestral Hall – Increased production of Settlers, New cities get a free Builder
  • Intelligence Agency – +1 Spy, All Spy Operations are more successful
  • Royal Society – Workers can use charges on district projects

Wonders pursued:
  • Alhambra
  • Big Ben
  • Casa de Contractación
  • Forbidden City
  • Potala Palace
  • Statue of Liberty
  • Taj Mahal

You plan a lot more than I do. :p My first game will be as the Cree on Chieftain, and what happens happens. ;) After that will probably be Korea (mostly because I love Korean city names), then Georgia, then the Netherlands--though all of that is subject to change if I find Scotland or the Mapuche really striking.

Civilization: Mongolia
Difficulty: Prince
Speed: Standard
Map: Pangea
Size: Normal
Other Civs: The seven remaining new civs
Victory pursued: Domination
First Governor: Whatever the situation dictates.

Government District Buildings:

Warlord's throne or whatever it is called.

Wonders pursued:

Probably won't worry about that. I will pursue cities that build them. :p

Strategy:
Will just be getting a large horse army and beating up people. If Seondeok gives me that line about clawing at the dirt, I'll rub her face in the mud. Lol.

After that I will try for the other victory types as Mongolia. :)

4-5 cities only, Defensive wars only. Emperor or Immortal, SV or CV - whichever is fastest, The usual...

Probably Cree or the Netherlands, unless one of the last 3 unknowns speaks to me

Either: Korea
Difficult: Prince
Speed: Standard
Map: Continents
Size: Normal
Other Civs: Maybe the new ones?
Victory Type: Science (what else?)
First Governor: Pingala (Have to educate those Koreans)

Government Buildings:
Audience Chamber (turtling), Foreign Ministry(for those scientific cities), Royal Society (space race projects)

or Netherlands

Difficult: Prince
Speed: Standard
Map: Continents
Size: Normal
Other Civs: Maybe the new ones?
Victory Type: Try Culture
First Governor: Reyna (Dutch Harbormaster) :mischief:

Government Buildings:
Ancestral Hall (New Cities with Polders), Intelligence Agency (why not?), National Museum (Great Work Slots)

First game for me in Rise and Fall is looking like Georgia either on Pangaea or TSL earth and I'll be trying to basically conquering all those around me and try for a domination victory.

I like civs with strong infrastructure, so probably either the Cree or the Netherlands, pending final three. Prince difficulty, regardless. I’ll probably leave Georgia for last, as most of their bonuses don’t interest me.

My first game is going to be a meet and greet. Tiny little map with no barbarians and no city states. Just me as a vanilla civ stuffed on a Pangaea landmass with the nine new leaders. I did this in G&K and BNW and plan to continue the tradition. I like to see the leader animations and whatnot, then quit. It's like unwrapping my gift.

My first actual game, assuming none of the last three civs strikes my fancy and that there are no new map types, will be:

Civilization: Cree
Difficulty: King
Speed: Standard
Map: probably Continents, maybe Fractal
Size: Large
Other Civs: all the remaining new leaders + a vanilla civ (likely whichever one is most radically overhauled)
Victory pursued: I'll see if I can leverage my Mekewap production into a science victory
First Governor: probably Liang the Surveyor for her earlier perks, followed by Magnus the Steward

I'm excited about pumping out Okihtcitaw, leveling them to Ambush (+20 combat strength in all situations), and preserving them throughout the game, upgrading them into Rangers and Spec Ops. Since Okihtcitaw have the same strength as a Warrior, it should be easy enough to do it. Imagine 40 strength Okihtcitaw in a big, dark forest. Rome better not send any Legions in. ;)

Diff: King
Speed: Quick
Map: Fractal, Small or standard size, Low sealevel
Other civs: Other new ones!
Victory goal: Just fooling around, having fun with new features

First Governor: The castellan

Goverment buildings: Ancestral hall for the first one, to get a Governor promotion level

Strategy: Mostly I plan trying out the new features, but I also want to play a sort of colonial strategy using Radio Orange UA.
Going to settle on juicy spots with good luxuries and use trade routes to give loyalty. (Radio Oranje)
Looking forward for some interesting emergencies, maybe I even need to cause one myself..

And as I write this, I just remember the new Historic Moments system, I think it's cool to get this timeline with important moments and also to collect those Era Score points.

Good thread, I like to read stuff like this. :)

Very good thread, I agree.

I like the creativity of the community. :)

Definitely either the Cree or Mapuche if the latter is indeed in the game. The Native to the Americas Civs always appeal to me the most even if those north of Mesoamerica often have abilities that are somewhat bland. Really rooting for the Mapuche to have some cool interesting gameplay

Probably Scotland (assuming they are in!), Prince, Pangaea, Large, Quick, vs the other new leaders and Victoria. Because you have to, really!

Victory condition to be determined by whatever Scotland are good at, I suppose. If Scotland don't inspire me I'll roll Georgia instead. I plan to spend a lot of time playing as Georgia mostly because of the music

All random for the first game. I won‘t be sad if I get a vanilla civ that was left unchanged. There are enough new things in R&F besides new civs. Hope to meet a lot of them in the game though.
Afterwards I will play the new or heavily changed civs in a randomly selected order.

Victory pursued: not sure, depends on how the game plays out
First Governor: Liang or Amani

Not sure about the Government buildings yet though... As for the wonders, I share the "gotta build 'em all" attitude with some fanatics here, so there's not much to think about. I suppose I will prioritize the new wonders, just to see how good their bonuses are.
