Hey guys! I finally managed to build a +35 city :woohoo: This has been so far my largest in years playing.

Initially it was founded on the tile northeast, floodplains with wheat... Gilgamesh doesn't know what's best for him :crazyeye: So I drained and abandoned the city (it had the Temple of Artemis :() and settled on a better spot.

So what's been your largest city? Anyone has a screen? I mean, for regular play, not custom map full of floodplains + wheat...

Yup, that's one large city. Interesting that you put the guys to work.
Isn't it going to culture flip, BTW??
Don't know my largest. Will take a look, but I doubt any comes over 25.

I don't think it will flip, it isn't the original Ur, the actual sumerian city was founded on the adjacent tile, but I abandoned it to settle there where I would have more food. Only 2 citizens are sumerians which I joined by mistake, the rest are carthaginians. But it already has some culture, a courthouse and they love the king, so there isn't much chance of it flipping.

The largest city that I definitely remember was Alexandria at size 38.

This is my largest - 45, though I forgot to irriagate a tile 1 W, 1SW from the capital, which would have made it 46. This was either a warlord or regent game on PTW that I was just kicking around for fun.

45 AND still growing!

Raliuven: isn't it "odd" that the number of food units in these cities always tends to be "odd", so that the city always "oscillates" between +1f and -1f... :D (In your case, even irrigating that one tile that you forgot, wouldn't help, it would give 2 more food and the total number remains odd...)

Rodrig0: why aren't all the rails and irrigations displayed in the city view screen?!

I hate this almost as much as I hate the longevity wonder. Let's grow those cities at +1fpt so that the city jumps by two population that it can't possibly feed. I guess we filp a coin and decide which babies we leave by the river. :(

I'm actually quickly growing annoyed at the agricultural trait which, by all appearances, makes it nearly impossible not to waste food all the time in the mid-to-late game. You would think the two would even everything out.

I actually did a quick mod for this where I had a Sumerian city with a granary, hospital, the works, smack-dab on top of a wheat-filled floodplain, surrounded by wheat-filled floodplains, with railroads and irrigation on all of them. I think I got up to...maybe 63 or 64 citizens? That's the highest theoretically possible, at least...but of course it's cheating, and I don't know what the limit is in terms of what the game would ever give you.
