I hate this! I can't search for 'map', numbers, 'cow'... (mostly map). Its irritating! Change it!

Seaching for small string of letters put a high demand on the server and slows the forum ( compare the database demand of calling a thread with a specific index and rendering it, to searching the entire text of all the post in a forum for the string 'map'). At Poly I believe they eliminated the use of wildcards '*' and substantialy speeded the server response time of the forum. Any change in search parameters is likely to go the other than requested direction. If rescources become more strained, you will likely see the mininum search string lengthened and wild cards disabled. To reduce this possibility poster should make their searches AS NARROW AS POSSIBLE, including using longer string of letters when posible

This happens alot to me as well. I know the rule is up for server purposes, so I don't complain.

The search fuction, however limited, is a resource hog.

I guess because of the many 3 letter words. There's even one in this and the last sentence! :D
