Your worst enemy

Catherine and Suryavarman can be a major pain - CRE means my border cities with them will usually suck, they expand well, they tech well and I don't trust them at all. I generally have more trouble with the part-time warmongers than the full-time ones, because they are a lot less predictable and harder to put to good use.

Most hated civ would be Sitting Bull though. Useless trade partner, hard to dislodge, spamming useless cities on hills and far too happy to poison my water rather than teching.

Joao often provides great but short-lived entertainment, tending to be a whiny, needy jerk with a large but underdefended empire.

Isabella, Alexander, and Mehmed seem to give me the most trouble.

Whoever I run into in the ten first rounds of a game.

It's hard getting a name, I think I've just played too many games. Monty isn't a threat, just a pain, Shaka a little more dangerous but not enough, Ragnar isn't a problem either. With those you know what to expect anyway, so you're always ready when they DOW on you. The AIs I've had real problems with are the balanced ones who tech well, keep a high military power and don't mind backstabbing you if they see an interest even if they're pleased.

Shaka. I've played one game with the guy and spent the entire game kissing his @$$. I kept trying to keep ahead of him in tech and as a result neglected my army making me feel nervous next to him. While he never back stabbed me I spent so much time making sure he was happy. The funny thing is that he won Diplo...

Louis XIV he appears in most of my games (sometimes I put him there) and I just hate him. He's french and wears a funny wig which just makes me want to build a nice army to attack him with. Lucky for me he's french so its easy. LOL.

I never try to appease Shaka for long. He seems to aggressively bully for techs; if I give him a leg up he will extort more techs from someone else and prosper only to be a huge pain in the long run.

If you take him down a notch, he doesn't recover well so I'd recommend to sic him on someone, then backstab him into next week.

My worst enemy is someone which I mention first here - Justinian, always always spying me when close.

Me and Napoleon never seem to get along. No particular reason he just always attempts to declare war on me. Really for me it usually depends on who's near me and what era I'm in. In the early part before sea and air units are in abundance my worst enemy is usually a civ near me, like in my current game me(Netherlands) and Ethiopia hated each other because Ethiopia decided to send a few settlers to my little island and put 2 colonys down. That of course led to war and my reclaimation of my island. Once I get astronomy my attentions change to whoever seems to be the biggest threat to my expansion and military.

My most hated enemies:

1. Shaka
2. Catherine
3. Suryavarman II

They're not necessarily the most formidable but their behavior has annoyed me the most.

After playing BTS, allow me to add Sury. I HATE Sury.

Shaka is powerful but I can usually contain him techwise and ultimately beat him. Still feel the same about the balanced warmongers though. Cathy's up there too, but Cathy fights and can be backstabbed herself.

If you can get into izzy's religion she's one of the most loyal allies in the game...

Mansa Musa. I always get him in my games. He techs way too quickly, then attacks while he's got that huge advantage. He'll be bombing my soldiers with Airships and I won't even be in the Industrial Era, let alone be able to do anything to counter them. His Skirmishers make early extermination difficult.
Survy. Always very annoying. Mad REXer and insane warmonger. Plus, he's ugly.
Shaka was actually a decent ally in a recent game. Good trade partner, had a tech edge over him so I could sell him stuff to help fund my military, and he was clear across the world. He would be higher up, but he's a good friend if circumstances are right.
Cathy--haven't had a game with her in forever, but still pissed about her DOW when she was at Friendly and had a Defensive Pact with me.

So it seems most others are in agreement with me. Survy is evil. He should be exterminated at all costs.

:D

Catherine. If she starts anywhere near me, I'll rush her down at all costs. Totally untrustworthy and always on my bad side for some reason.

Well, in my limited game experience, I had a particularly annoying session today where I was on the northern-most peninsula of a continent that lead to a bottleneck. I was pretty stoked at first (good resources, copper/iron/gold all within reasonable reach with the settling of a second town) until I noticed my closest neighbor south was Catherine and settled right behind her was Gilgamesh.

Seeing as I'm still pretty mediocre at the game, no matter what I did I was boxed in from the get-go. With having to settle a second town, by the time I got axemen up and running she had four cities already. I knock one down, she puts up another one, and so on. I spent a few hours on that map trying different approaches and the more I played, the more I hated her.

Ok, finally I've got one : Huayna "I'll take everything thank you very much" Capac.

Financial : techs well.
Industrious : grabs the wonders from the techs he discovers.
Starts with Mysticism : founds one or more religions and has an insane income from the shrines.

Those are the reasons why I'm not playing him often (feels like cheating, like Darius), but damn I hate when I dominate my continent, am several techs ahead of everyone and all of a sudden HC comes in a caravel and shows seven techs I don't have yet.

Zara Yacoub is a close second with his cultural borders of doom that eat your empire alive if he's near by.

Worst enemy? Hmmm...

Monty is more often an enemy than a threat.

Hannibal makes my games interesting- I respect him and consider him a skilled rival competitor rather than an enemy.

Dizzy Izzy can be entertaining, and a useful Alli when I choose to cooperate with her...

Shaka and Ragnar can be useful Allies when I'm warring.

Sitting Bull is useless and annoying as a neighbor , he might be my most hated.

Unless he gets an isolated start, Alex is most apt to attack me.

This month the answer is Alex, because he's always an enemy and more able than Monty.

Casear. He's willing to march half way across the world with his legions to invade me. Its most irritating. And I can't retaliate because he's so far away.

Though once I did. There were two civs in between us Persia and the Arabs. I attacked and conquered both of them just so I could get to him. It was most satisfying burning Rome to the ground.

Is it just me, or is Kublai Khan by far the most dangerous civ if he gets off to a good start? Cause just about every game I play with Kublai, he is a beast in all facets of the game. The only saving grace about Kublai is his favourite civic is Beauracracy so he can be fairly easy to get along with (unless I manage to piss him off).

And Charlemange, while completely useless at everything, always manages to attack me and cause major problems until I get Macemen.

I guess I haven't played enough to know them all well, but I actually LOVE Monty. I view him as sort of a steward of my future lands. He's easy to bribe to war, always a backwards pushover, sometimes will even spare me the guilt by declaring war on me, and is more than happy to hand his lands over to me on a silver platter.

My worst enemies would be anyone who techs well and yet is aggressive. Those are hard wars to win for me.

Any of the ones that play like humans. They maintain enough of an army to not be easily removed, they tech at a fair pace and make smart trades, and they aren't a psychopathic warmonger who eventually ends up having the entire continent declare on them en masse(hi Boudica&Alexander!).
