Zambezi

IIRC they made it to the shortlist, but we opted for Benin over them as we didn't really want another warlike civ. Having said that, they could still be done eventually as an extra civ.

Apologies on the slowness of getting v2 out, we're expecting it sometime in April. Jan's prioritised the Nri UU icon, so hopefully once we get that we'll be good to go with the next three civs (Nri, Benin and Mali I think)

Nzinga, following a bit more her royal depictions... Not sure on the background yet...

Looks awesome, but like you said the background is a bit iffy. Would you be able to do one for Kilwa too, preferably before BNW comes out?

Maybe, I may get some time after next week due to exams finishing. About the background, I think a good idea would be to have some sort of image of Colonial Africa, but I can't find any good image or reference for that...

Honestly, I thought the Kongo and Kilwa leaderheads looked fine in your mod pack. The Garamantes were more in need of a new leader screen, imo.

Edit: that new Kongo leader does look amazing, though

Looks great, but would it be possible to have it on a similar scene to Cyon's, in front of the ocean at sunset with the dhows and all that?

Sure... I wonder what base did he have though, I searched for a similar image with Kilwa and with Kilwa Architecture, and all I got was these nice archs.

Didn't know if I should post this on this thread or the other one :p

Any news on an BNW update for the Kilwa and Kongo? Tomatekh has published an update for the Garamantes, but I haven't found one for the other two. It would be great to incorporate this incredible artwork upgrade by Leugi as well as other touch ups (replace Mbanza-Kongo, Zanzibar, Mombasa, etc. city-states)

That's great to hear. Could I suggest possibly considering a new civ icon? I know the red x on the white background is the historic flag, but IMO it is a bit, I don't know, uninspiring. This symbol is a Kongo symbol and might make for a more interesting icon: http://www.diaspora.illinois.edu/news1207/FennellFig3-1.jpg

That's a religious symbol, though (Tomatekh uses it for indigenous Kongo religion in his Historical Religions mod). While there are some civs (Spain, Arabia, Byzantium) where I think it makes sense to use a religious symbol, I don't know if Kongo is one of them.

Kongo - Nzinga Mbande

The Kingdom of Kongo was an African kingdom located in west central Africa in what is now northern Angola, Cabinda, the Republic of the Congo, and the western portion of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At its greatest extent, it reached from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Kwango River in the east, and from the Congo River in the north to the Kwanza River in the south. The kingdom consisted of several core provinces ruled by the Manikongo, but its sphere of influence extended to neighboring kingdoms, such as Ngoyo, Kakongo, Ndongo and Matamba. During the colonial era, it became known due to Kongo's interaction and conflict with the Portuguese.

Steam Workshop / Civfanatics

UB: Raffia Mill: Replaces Mint. Provides +1 Raffia, a unique luxury resource. +2 Gold on Dye. (+20% Production Cost. No Gold bonus on Gold or Silver Tiles. Terrain Requirement changed: City must be built adjacent to and maintain at least one Jungle Tile).
