ZWK -another game

In this game Imperial-Markus appearsto be cheating. He has some major rush builds done without any money being used. I have had a very long series of PM's with him (thus the reason I held off on posting this) while he tried to give me reasons how it may have happened, but none of them could be supported. In the end he said his game on his harddrive is different from the game he posted in the saves. I'm not sure how that could be either, but regardless, the posted saved games were cheated. I spot checked his saves in ZWK 8 and there have already been some huge rush builds with no cash to do them.

I'm back...

After first willem and now this (not to mention Darius's troubles with lazyciv crippling the Minor Allies, etc.) , it seems best to just end this game. The fact that there have not been any posts for a week seems to indicate that it is over anyway.

Is anyone even still around?

I'm back now too.

Whether or not we end this one (I hope we don't), I would at least hope to sort out this accusation first. IM is in a lot of games and I'd like to have him cleared, or not if he can be proven to have cheated.

What proof would you want?

I have saved games which show the amount of gold that the player had to start a turn and how much was left at the end of the turn. Along with that, I can give you screenshots that show the status of the troop strength on both turns (which shows no troops were disbanded for the shields) and screenshots of city progress on the turn before and after.

He does maintain his innocence, but after 4 or 5 different explinations of how he built the units (all of which could not be supported by the saves) I posted here. I'm all for proving his innocence, but nothing that was said could be supported.

I also have copies of all the PM's I sent and received from him. However, I would want his permission to post them publically.

Unless SirDunco will be taking over before the next allied turn, how did you look at these things if you're in this game?

Anyway, I believe you, but what do you think we should do about his other games if indeed you are correct?

I had assumed Sir Dunco would have been back by the time I had posted. But, if you look at my other threads where I posted about elibb, you'll see I withdrew from those games as well.

What happens in his other games is up to you guys. You can see if he'll promise to not cheat anymore and let him keep playing, or find a replcement, or cancel the games.... It's up to you guys how you want to handle it.

Just so you know, I hadn't seen you announce it on two other games he and I are in, and I don't really want to bring it up myself. They are the second SW Insurrection game and the Apolyton ZWK game. Damn shame for that matter; he was in so many games it was refreshing to have an apparent regular to depend on, but I guess we're gonna be short of players again, what with Willem, elibb, Scott F, and IM gone at roughly the same time.

So...I guess we have a few questions to work out

1. I assume DoM has seen too much during his investigations to continue playing. Sir Dunco hasn't posted since his note on this thread on 6/23. I guess we are on hold until he returns? Or should we replace the allies? Yop is on vacation, so I guess we've got some time...

2. How far back would we need to go this time? Do we need to go back to where I-M came on board? That would put us all the way at week 8 where we picked up after willem. I'm beginning to think this game is cursed and maybe we're better off just scrapping the whole deal. Quite a bit of strategy has played out already (e.g., I doubt the Russians will be quite so cooperative with the Axis a second time around ;) ).

3. If we continue. Does anyone know someone who would want to take over the Minor Axis again?

I'm sure there is more to work out, but that's a start.

I vote for starting as early back as possible, since lazyciv 3 works for me. :soldier:

Well ok here I'm and ready for an explanation. The problem was my interest in hexediting and coding collided with my passion for Civ II. Therefore I created THE perfect Hexeditor with it you can change your money, the city size and other hexbased things DURING your turn. You don't need an hexeditor and screw around with hexoffsets and decimaloffsets. It worked brilliantly because with it you can also shift the figures forth and back whatever you want it and all during one turn as it is directly linked with the scn-file. I was eager to try it out in a PBEM-game but now I think it was rather unfair and I want to apologize for it as now I've seen what I've done. I know that no-one want me in any PBEM-game again but I hope I can stay on the forum and work together with scencreators trying to solve problems with the civengine and help with coding. I hope you will take the hand I offer you and work together with me I'm not an evil guy just a little inventor who wanted to see if his little toy worked in real life.

I also want to add that I'm not a hacker or any other illegal. I'm a regular information scientist working at a very famous computer company.

So hope you accept my offer and my apologize.
Sorry

Well, thank you for finally admitting to it.

In my opinion, you could have very easily tested your program on a PBEM game with any number of people on-line here; privately.

But, when someone cheats in more than one game, denies it so vehimently, provides a series of 'reasons' that it 'must' have happened and also 'suggests' that I didn't explore the possibilites first, I tend to think it is from someone who thought they could have got out of it if they denied it enough. You tried to provide 5 or 6 reasons for the cheating, all of which were just more lies on top of it all.

You are definately more than welcome to continue visitng CFC. We don't ban people for cheating in on-line games.

Your future in PBEM games is up to each individual player. They get to decide on their own who they will and will not play with. I think you know my choice.

I'm back.
Too bad that IM did actually cheat :(
I would actually like to know what the possibilities are.
If we continue this game, we need one player for the Allies and one for the Minor Axis. (I prefer this option)
If we begin again, I suggest a 3 player game. Darius: allies, Tim: axis, me: Soviets.

Yop

Someone set up a thread and I'm game. :)
