OTR match, anyone?

I'd be up for it, but I'll hang fire and let someone else have a shot. If no-one else signs up by the weekend then sign me up.

Sounds good to me - if no one else wants in, what side do you want? The Allied game mechanics are more straight forward (send stuff over to blow something up) but they have a more challenging start (until you have escorts, you will take a walloping). The Germans have an easier start, but eventually have to hang on for dear life and are more complicated IMO to understand how to play. Both are fun but in different ways.

I think allies for me. I'm conscious I'm jumping in here though and I want to give someone else first shot at this.

I would also be interested in starting a game, but if there isn't a fourth player, I'll let Fairline play. I would take Germany, which I haven't played yet. I'm not scheduled for work Friday through Sunday, so I should be able to play a decent number of turns over the weekend, if someone else wants to play.

Frankly I'd be up for an Allied game vs. Prof. Garfield and a German game vs. Fairline, but only if a 4th can't be found.

I seem to have time lately :)

If you're not working today, then start a game, so we can get a few turns done today. If you are working, then I suppose we might as well wait until the evening or tomorrow, to see if someone else wants to play (although, I suspect a fourth player would rather play against Fairline than either of us).

I am working, but I'll start a game at lunch.

It's a day-off here, appropriately enough to celebrate VE-day, so feel free to start

The Allies play first, so have at it :) The downloads section here has the most up to date version.

Will do! Any settings need changing in the ToTPP launcher?

EDIT: The readme says:

Action Required: The file civlua.lua in Test of Time\lua should be updated to the attached file in the civluaBugfix.zip included with the scenario. This fixes a critical error with the civlua.lua file in base ToTPP

This zip isn't in the download as far as I can see

Also, I've left these selected. Hope that's right:

I don't believe so. In any case, I never changed any settings. If you disabled something, then you might have to re-enable it. Maybe you need the 'music' setting enabled to hear 2 or 3 event sounds (I switched from play sound to play music, so that it would stop other music from playing), but that shouldn't affect gameplay at all.

eek. Fairlane, I sent you an @ on the thread that has the bug fix

You only need open game selected (and I suppose in this instance, that is even not strictly necessary). Doubling production and movement will change the scenario balance.

Hopefully my last question (bear with me on this!):

I'm following the tutorial and it suggests pressing the backspace key brings up the radar hits dialogue box. Not for me it doesn't (I'm hitting backspace key located next to = key above return key)

yes that's true - the game is pretty carefully balanced for production/movement so I wouldn't move forward under those settings.

Sorry if it isn't clear - you need to do this while you have actively selected a radar site. Backspace won't do anything unless a unit is selected. Backspace will load up secondary ammo (in your Allied case, bombs for fighter bombers) or "fire/use" all radar sites at once, but only if a radar site is the active unit.

Just to confirm - you went back in and started without those options, correct?

OK got it. Restarting with just open game selected and selecting radar unit before pressing backspace :)

Not entirely sure what I'm doing yet, but here's the first turn save :)

Also, my inner geek insists I point out the trains are all American wild-west with cow-catchers and wide funnels. The third one of this lot is a better fit for 1940's Britain (if it matters!):
