The Villages

Turn 4:

Aelhammer

Winter in the high mountains is cold and long, and activity throughout the village slows but does not stop. Before the last of the snows fall, John and Peter are able to bring in the last few baskets of apples (+7 food). Vin’s trapline continues to bring food to complement the apples of the pair (2 successes, +2 food).

Little Graham heads west, accompanied by Mother rebecca and the younger villages she has convinced to support Graham (support, 3 successes, +3 dice to Graham’s task). Graham, leading the group manages to gather a significant amount of timber (gather, 5 successes, +5 timber).

At home, Franklin attempts to weave wool into textiles but is constantly distracted and has little to show for his efforts at the end of the season (0 successes). Mayor Jacqueline attempts to convince Bhaskar the tinkerer to step up, making some headway (recruit, 2 successes). Meanwhile Salem is busy working out some ideas for cutting down trees (invention 2 successes towards woodcutter's ax)

Conros, accompanied by Mathieu heads north-west, weaving through the snow and ash, exploring a landscape ravaged by recent forest fire and bare of undergrowth or animals with only blackened skeletons of trees remaining. He gathers up some of the timber to support Graham’s efforts before returning home (2 successes, +2 food).

Gorken

Winter in the south brings more rain and heavy winds. Before things get too wet the farms provide one last harvest of rice from the work of Brothers Oren and Poe (+7 food). In the south, Sister Bess continues hunting along her favorite river edge, bringing game and fish to the village (2 successes, +2 food).

In the village, Sister Nil turns her attention to shaping timber into lumber (1 successes, -1 timber, +1 lumber). High Lord So abandons his efforts to recruit Sister Sarv, focusing instead on recruiting a new gatherer (2 successes towards recruiting gather 3). Sister Jess meanwhile, can’t seem to stay focused on her task at hand and her thoughts on means of developing a new tool to assist in timber collection never amount to anything (0 successes)

Brother Pik continues his exploration, moving inland and finding a hilly region intersected with streams and rivers. Rocky outcroppings are veined in red and promise iron deposits. In fact, Brother Pik is lucky enough to find some ready surface deposits of such a purity as to be suitable for immediate working into tools (2 successes, +2 metals). Clan Odd

Without leadership, the villagers of Clan Odd melt back into the obscurity that birthed them.

Asheburn

Winter is a big season for exploration amongst the Asbeburn. Carla, Johsia, and Jermiah all head west, exploring in a broad swathe. In the north, Johsia explores along the shore, finding a wide grassland plain with large herbivore herds pawing at thin snow cover and grazing under a bright winter sky. He finds some excellent hides while scouting and returns these to the village (2 successes, +2 textiles). Further south, Carla gets lost quickly and returns home empty handed (0 successes), while still further south, Jeremiah explores into a snow-covered landscape of hills and mature cedar trees, moving easily in a region of little underbrush. Jeremiah is even lucky enough to stumble across recently dead deer and returned their frozen meat to the village (2 successes, +6 food).

While Harlan collects the last of he harvest (+4 food), Celeste heads northwest to collect timber (2 successes, +2 timber) and further west, Arlan begins construction of a farm (2 successes invested).

Within the village itself, Bethany initiates negotiations with Willow, a woman of mystery and magiks, to join the effort (2 successes towards recruitment) and Sarah attempts to develop a prototype for a boat to move across the seas (1 success).

John and Peters keep farming in F8 and F9 respectively, doing their best to produce more delicious apples than their brother
Graham, feeling pretty good about her stick-gathering and noticing the cool blood-red streaks in the rocks, starts gathering them in F7 (Gather Ore F7)
Mother Rebecca takes the timber to Franklin and gets a bunch of schmucks to help Franklin cut them up into useful lumber (Support Franklin, F8)
Franklin, frustrated at his inability at weaving, goes back to turning timber into lumber for later use, helped by Mother Rebecca's schmucks. (Shape Timber into Lumber)
Conros, creeped out by the blackened skeletons, jogs downstream. (Scouting into F6)
Vin, very bored with hunting, heads downstream to explore. (Scouting into H6)
Mathieu continues on his patrol circuit, taking his job very seriously and definitely not stealing apples. (Patrol)
Salem, absurdly proud of his new invention, excitedly tries to get Franklin to make a 'ladder', but unfortunately he's already turned most of the timber stockpile into lumber, so he begins a new project, a heavy, sharp thing on a stick that can be used to cut down trees for their delicious useful flesh that he calls an 'axe' so that Franklin can make his vision come to life (Trick, designing a woodcutting axe).
Mayor Jacqueline keeps wheedling Bhaskar until he breaks (Recruit, name is Bhaskar on success, Tinker 3)

Orders due Friday at noon (Est).
