I'm quite a noob, but wouldn't it have been better if you moved the settler one west?
it would leave you with the same resources and would switch a couple of mountains with some grassland.
Congratulation!
I just won my first game on prince- a tiny map aimed at conquest. Won pretty easily, but I regenerated for a good start and the map size helped a lot. I will now move to a small continents game on prince.
I too learned a lot from here, and I find that just reading a thread...
I still support settling in place- the extra ivory doesn't matter that much. It only means we are less likely to get any other resources in the capital, but we really have nothing to complain about with this start.
I think settling in place is better. I also think we should save the Maoi for a city with more water tiles, as this city has enough hammers already. anyway we do need to see what the scout will reveal, but I think that settling in place will be the better option.
I play very standard maps- standard size continents, temperate and medium sea level on noble.
I don't have an example right now- but this happens in all of my games.
So what you say is you just need enough food just to work all production tiles? and what improvements do you build on other tiles...
I am playing on noble and have a great problem with creating production cities.
I am getting better with creating wealth and science cities as well as GP farms, but I can't find a way to create a production city. Usually my capital ends up being with the highest production even if I cottage...
I just finished playing an archipelago map with tiny continents on noble, and had a big problem.
Because most of my cities were on a land tile surrounded by sea, I had lots of food and lots of commerce (I was financial) but I couldn't find any way to create hammers! What I did is stayed with...
First thing, this topic is way too politic. If you are anti-semite you don't have to write it here.
Many people also talked about the conflict between modern Israel and Palestine without showing any knowledge about what is really going on, and sound as if they are just listening for the media...
Great game! I resumed playing Civ 4 after a long pause, and read your 3 home schools to get in shape. They are all great and well played. This one has taught me the most though- I have never followed a game that ended with 2 wins, both very early.
Thank you very much!
I have to defend Saladin and Mansa Musa. Mansa Musa is a great researcher, and very often I find him with a strong peaceful empire. In fact when I play with him on the same map, I try not to let him tech to fast, but if I find him on another continent he is almost always the strongest civ there...
I have 2 simple questions:
1. I consider buying BTS but I only have vanilla. Does BTS include everything that is in Warlords, or do I have to have both W and BTS to play the full civ4 experience?
2. When building the UN, I don't know who has the most population and thus I don't know who will...
You forgot to say on what level you play. When playing against monarch or higher, you win early space race often because the world's technological pace is higher.
But then technological advancement will be the only factor in winning a war. Older units will not matter and the moment you have the required tech, you can build two invincible units and win with only them.
