I like the fact that both our races have the theme of transhumanism/transcendence about them, yet goes off in a completely different direction otherwise.

My biggest question mark, really, is a debt mechanism. I've just got no clue where to go there, at all. But I know that I want to represent it in some way because debt is basically How State Finances Work.

Other stuff, like resource management (do I want to force people to keep track of oil?), are relatively small potatoes.

Have a look at this which happens to have a nice (fairly easy to follow) tutorial behind it. From that, I managed to get this from a half hour of messing around. With some clone/feather action from Blue Marble (wish I had thought of using that ) you should be able to get a fairly good product. Well more than the paint worshipping masses would expect. Hopefully, it'll save you some time (particularily if you are looking to generate more than one world).
