Map Trix

Map Trix 1.11.3

better map tooltips

spot important map details

Map Trix shows you what you're pointing at:
  • geography
  • cities and towns
  • buildings, improvements, and wonders
  • resources and yields
  • rival units
map-trix-volcano.jpg

geography

the top of the tooltip describes the land, with emphasis on hazards and obstacles. color highlights warn you of fortifications, damaging effects, and terrain features that can stop your movement.

civilization

see which settlement claims each tile, who owns it, and their atttitude toward you. hover over the city center to see additional information about connected settlements, religion, and fresh water.

buildings

everything constructible goes here: buildings, improvements, and wonders. city-states, unique quarters, and wonders show their names and special abilities. buildings show their yield types as colored rings around the building icons: green for food, yellow for gold, and so on. a glowing ring means that a building is complete and up-to-date, and two glowing buildings make a Quarter.

improvements

undeveloped tiles show which basic improvement type the land supports, and resources show which improvements unlock them. unique improvements show which basic improvement they replaced (for warehouse bonuses).

yields

the last column shows the total of all yields under a bronze hexagon.

compact or verbose

hold down Ctrl or Shift to change the level of detail, or Ctrl+Shift together to hide the tooltip.
you can also set your preferred level in the Options menu.
  • compact: Ctrl
  • verbose: Shift
  • hidden: Ctrl+Shift

compatibility with other mods

known interactions:
  • Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustments: compatible. when both mods are installed, the Map Trix tooltip replaces Sukritact's version.
  • zhekoff's Colorful Top Panel: compatible. when both mods are installed, zhekoff's yield banner replaces the Map Trix version.
  • TCS Improved Plot Tooltip: incompatible. both mods enhance the same feature in different ways.

localization

supported languages:
  • German (translated by Chr1Z93)
  • Italian (translated by leonardfactory)
  • Korean (translated by Hotsolidinfill)
  • Russian (translated by Webrok)
  • Simplified Chinese (translated by v480615)
  • Traditional Chinese (translated by v480615)

Great mod. Helps get all needed info from one place. Various options to select the amount of data to be displayed.
Awesome. Out of all tooltip mods out there, this one is the best. It's not only functional but is also visually flawless and not immersion-breaking.

I have one suggestion: Could you please make the topbar thing optional? Thanks.

thank you! good news, the top bar is already optional. you can configure it on the Mods tab of the Options menu.
Easily one the most well thought out mods out there. Presents all the information one needs and does so with beautifully!
Nice improved info, espacially totalized yield info.
Great mod, so much nicer to play with it! Would might be considering assigning some of the info vertically on the city tab just to make it a bit less long. But overall amazing.

i added a new "verbose mode" to help with that. now the tooltip hides some of the less important information. it shows everything when you hold down the Ctrl or Shift key.
This is the best tooltip mod for me! I really like the great design. Thank you!
I really like this Mod first and compared it in detail to the TCS Mod. I love the colored adjacency bonuses, it´s amazing good! And I love the Design. BUT this Mod is missing two key Elements for me:

1. No potential improvement Info for unimproved tiles, for example: "Can be improved with: Tongrube"
2. No Quick-Info, if the Tile has Fresh Water.

I will come back to this Mod for sure, if both Elements will be integrated one day. Anyway, really really good Job Bro, 5 Stars!

thanks for your feedback – as we discussed elsewhere, i've added a "no fresh water" indicator to the extra stats you get when hovering over a city center.
I've been trying to get the combination of functions that are provided by City Hall and Map Trix together, but they always seemed to break each other. These two MODs work without issue.

I love the new resource highlight. Is it possible to make the ovals a bit smaller so they appear inside the black banner vs flush? It would make them appear more like buttons and give it a cleaner look. :)
really nice thanks
wow, very nice!
I guess that is completely incompatible to the other 2 popular plot tooltip mods, right? But especially the building status from your mod would be so nice to have combined with TCS... we need a mod that creates a merged plot-tooltip.js from all the good stuff in various mods :D

thank you!
you can combine this with Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustments, although it will override the map tooltip part of that mod. it directly conflicts with TCS Improved Plot Tooltip, alas!
