Where is everybody?
tex posted a "got it" on Saturday and he has 72hrs to complete it. after him, mitsho will be up, then me. we had a delay last week but it looks like we should be up to speed again.

1000-0 I get rid of all the clowns and end the turn.

1010-1 build, move and heal

1020-2 Declare on the Iroqouis and bribe Greece with Wine and Dyes. Capture Kahnawake with 2 armies from a pike and two spears.

1030-3 Two pikes fall in St Regis granting us a catapult. Three pike and 2 MDI die to give us Niagara Falls and a catapult. Two knights promote but one is already in an army. Lose a vet knight to a 3hp MDI but finish him with our elite horse but no leader.

Lose a knight to an MDI

1040-4 Some more stuff builds. Move and heal.

Lose 2 knights on the Plains of Salamanca.

1050-5 Clear 2 MDI from Salamanca.

1060-6 Kill another MDI but only 3 of the pikes in Salamanca.

1070-7 More stuff built. Kill the last 3 pikes in Salamanca to claim the Oracle and a catapult. Move on to kill a pike in Cattaraugus.

1080-8 The Oracle make everyone happy. Two pikes fall giving us another cat from Tonawanda.

1090-9 Moving and healing some more.

1100-10 Cattaraugus falls ending the Iroquois existence. The last three pike were not enough to protect their setter, cat or civilization.

There are a lot of workers and I think they can be automated now. I did not do that.

The build choices I chose were temple then courthouse in new cities. Old cities got aqueducts/granaries/cathedrals depending on size(after a courthouse).

With the end of the Iroquois, Greece will be missing the two luxuries. Do not wait too long to replace them in an alliance against the Mayan’s.

I have spread out the slow movers and a pair of small knight groups to move on several cities at any time. Our there armies are in the last the Iroquois towns. Each group has an active unit to identify where they are.
WARNING: There are two Mayan SoD’s in the far north. They must have been leftover from their last war with the Iroquois.

The Game

nice :hammer: tex! looks like it's time to bring the hurt to the mayan :) actually, anyone will do now as we are on for the final push and we don't really need anyone's help.

Roster Update - 24hrs got it, 72hrs to play :)

Nice work :hammer: - kind in interesting that the Cowboy whomped the Indian

Would Greece (with Mayan alliance) be a better (easier) target that the Mayans?

Are we planning domination or conquest? How close are we to domination?

We are in better position to hit the Maya but they have a lot of MDI up north. Our armies are healing so the stacks will not be attacked for another turn or two. I was not expecting them to be there or we would have more knights near them.

Cross post edit:

Yes, attacking Greeece would be easier but we are way out of position. I forgot to check our stats on domination.

due to my screw-up with the galleys  , it would probably be best if we just went for domination. trying to get to astronomy with this tech pace will be too painful, imho.

edit: let's get after the Mayan as they have been rather annoying this game and have it coming to them

I agree that it is time for the Mayan comeuppance. Nail 'em Mitsho! :hammer:

I got it, but i had to play first the other sg, :) which I have done by now.

Looks like I have to persuade the greeks to fight with us? :)
like it mitsho

Note: I will be away from tomorrow, the 29th, to Sunday the 1st.

Althouhg I doubt it will affect this SG...

Do we know for certain that we have offshore islands?

here we go:

0 nothing

1 healing healing

2 rush 3 pikes in the north

3 want to start the war, but the Greek don't want a war. I can't bribe them with what we have until there's war. So I remove some little troops to the south and rush some pikes there.

4 one more turn of peace

5 ups I accidentially put an army on mayan land, he demands to leave, I have to disagree. Due to this I watch about 4 minutes of troop movement, we lose
3 midevial infantries. :(

6 greece attack mayan for furs and wines. ok :) Akwesasne, Caughnawa, captured, many mayan troops killed.

ibt we lose: 7 mi, 2 knights, 1 pike :( (I'm not talented in war in civ3)

7 we lose: 2 mi, we conquer: Mayapan, Ugarit, we kill: a lot ... and we get Vercingetorix , fill the army with 4 mi

ibt a big stack of death marches onto one of our 1 pike cities, we have 1 pike, 2 armies and a bunch of trebuchets to defend...

8 we conquer: Centralia,

ibt Damn, we lose two armies and the oracle due to dastardous rng bad luck....

9 we conquer Hattusas the hittite starting point, but we'll probably loose the third army in the nord, perhaps, I don't know.

ibt, I fail completely as I forget that the governors are switched off, nearly all our cities riots.... sorry, but we only lose one mi to the mayans

10 we kill some mayans, and now I have to go, but have't finished every unit yet, please look at the thing with a good eye before pressing space

wow, we lost 2 army's in 1 turn? who's giving the beating, us or the mayan? well, guess this means this game is still up for grabs! btw, i usually like to declare on my turn rather than place unit in thier territory and then refuse to leave. that way, i get the 1st strike and don't lose units with the first stroke of the war. of course, we're saddled with a bunch of MDI's so that may have not been possible in this case.

i probably will play and post tomorrow night. i'll try to get a screen up later so we can see what the conditions are right now.

I thought the Mayans would not attack our armies like the AI is known to do and allow them to slowly wittle away their troops up north. I guess they wanted the Oracle bad enough. Not looking at the save, I cannot imagine we are not still in control. It will take longer with our infantry game we have going now. We may want to sent the armies ahead to find Smoke's sources of Iron and pillage.

@grahamiam, I usually do the same, it's logical, but I was caught up by him, he had a cultural expansion of one of the border cities during the interturn, and then, we were on his land, when I was in control, we weren't. And I didn't want to get kicked out of his land and then attack. ok, I could have done, it, since our rep doesn't matter. But this thought comes to me only now...

When I now think, I could've saved the two armies, by letting them gain Salamanca, and then conquering it back. And I was also surprised when I saw that he attacked our armies... ???

But the situation looks good nevertheless, In the South he has practically no forces left and the greeks get his supply troops :) so within a few turns we should have gained control of the former iroquois peninsula,

darn it! i thought i'd be able to take this tonight but I've had a brutal day and there's still a ton to do. I'll be out of town tomorrow and Saturday so I need a swap with bugs if possible.

OK, then. I've got the game. Probably have it back by Saturday afternoon.

That should work out fine, I'll be back Sunday about noon and can pick it up then if G-man isn't back yet.

Preflight – 1180 AD - We have some serious happiness problems (32 rioting cities, another couple ready to riot), but we have a ton of cash. I put the lux rate at 80% and fire some clowns. MM virtually every city.

We have some resisting Mayan cities with a ton of units in them. One flip and there goes half our military. Fix that.

Change a bunch of builds. I’m not a fan of building regular military units. Hurry some temples.

We have some trebs fortified in a resisting city close to the front. Bombard and attack a stack of Mayans.

We’re at 49% of land area. 16 turns left on an alliance with Alex.

We have a bunch of pikes defending interior cities in our core. I wake them up and send them towards the front. This will free up some knights we have garrisoning frontline cities.

Our units are scattered all along the front with many exposed to attack. The interturn will probably be bloody. We don’t seem to have any solid campaign strategy set up.

IBT – Several of our units are enslaved. I see a leader generated.
Order is restored in 30 cities. I missed two.

1. 1190 AD – Capture Harran. Knock down a stack of 12 Jav Throwers. We have one MDI enslaved. More MM in our now peaceful cities. Spend a long stretch of time optimizing the number of shields in each knight producing city. Kill the stack with the leader.

IBT – See another leader generated.

2. 1200 AD – Kill a few mini-stacks and the MDI guarding the leader. Start gathering a force in the north and a force in the south. Some force concentration will go a long way.

Since we could use some filling in of land area, I change a few builds to settlers and rush them.

IBT – A ministack containing some artillery comes forth.

3. 1210 AD - We kill the stack and take the arty. They were Iroquois pieces. In an effort to create a diversion while I collect some stacks, I move a force of two knights and a pike onto the mountain south of Mauch Chunk.

Make a bit of a gamble and move our knight army next to Salamanca.

IBT – The Greek city NW of Hispalis is razed.

4. 1220 AD – Bombard another two stacks and wipe out one and cut the other in half.
5. 1230 AD – Capture another Iroquois treb

Using a force of knights out of Niagara Falls, we capture Salamanca. Smoke has a force of three just outside. We have two knights defending.

IBT – Salamanca falls.

6. 1240 AD – Aggressively found Glanum to consolidate the front. Move a settler to cut the Mayans in two.

IBT – A fierce attack on our new city, but it stands. Another fierce attack on our settler. We are left with a 2/4 pike guarding him.

7. 1250 AD - Found Isca cutting the Mayans in two. Kill three more mini-stacks. Hopefully the western Mayans will be gassed soon.
8. 1255 AD – Continue nailing Mayans. Use a healthy MDI army to attack Mauch Chunk. Might fall next turn.

IBT – Greeks build Knights Templar.

9. 1260 AD – Since it looks like we’ll get to keep Salmanca and the Oracle, I MM our cities again. We have some seriously happy people. Drop lux.

Mauch Chunk falls. I’m only seeing spears as replacement units. Get another Iroquois treb and a Greek slave.

Found Segusio NW of Hispalis.

10. 1265 AD – Start the assault on Ake and Oil Springs. Both fall one attacker short.

After Action – The western (former Iroquois lands) will fold quickly. The number of units and replenishment from both sides has dropped off dramatically. I have been holding on the Isca-Ugarit front with a bombard and pick off tactic. We’re now at 54.8% of land area and 60% of pop. I don’t expect to see this game back. Greece is gassed and hasn’t done much against the Mayans.
