1.17f Problems/Bug Reports

In one of my games, it seems that after you build a mine on a bonus grassland tile, ALL bonus grassland tiles produce 2 shields.

Can anyone confirm?

I just finished a game as the Egyptians and got a leader and 5 guys joining my despotism... one was even a skilled settler.
I never had more than 2 settlers before.

It does work. I just didn,t have one of my pcx. files matching. But now when I,m in the advisor screen, my leaderhead doesn,t show. Which of the following pcx. file is for the advisor screen?

#ICON_RACE_CANADA

art\civilopedia\icons\races\canadasmall.pcx

#RACE_CANADA
art\leaderheads\TR.pcx

#LHURT_RACE_CANADA

Or is it the flic. files?

Not sure if this is the right place for this post now.
If not, some one will move it.

I have moved the thread to the Tech section:

Look Here

people have been complaining about not being able to upgrade armies. with the " leaving the flag bearer behind with the "j" move" bug , you can upgrade them.

with 1.17 and after reverting to 1.16 I usually get 7 lux at the most (that`s 8 civ, standard map), last game 8 civ standard had only 5 in all. They only appeared on the starting islands of the civs, nowhere else....... Funny, especially when roughly 60% of world land mass has no inital Civs on it.... makes for lots of lu-empty islands..... and there were 3, 4 or 5 of each kind of lux except for incense where there was only 1...... Also, dissappearing resources never resulted in new ones poping up.......

I had to uninstall and the reinstall civ + 1.16 go get back to a normal lux distribution....

I noticed the dearth of luxes in v1.17f and looked in the civ3mod.bic and saw the occurrence was set to 0. I changed it to 200 and got 17 silks in a very small area. I don't know what existed on the rest of the map before I quit and deleted all save games.

I changed the bic down to 100 for the luxes and it seems to be more realistic in my current game.

I think this is an undocumented change in v1.17f.

another one....... still, what bugs me more is that resources don`t appear new, they just go.... I tried this again (reinstalled, 1.17, then reverted to 1.16 by uninstalling 1.17, then copying an old copy of 1.16 over it - and again, this game I`m down to 1 coal from 3, but noone else has gained coal and all land is taken... even used see-map cheat to check.... :(

Yeah, I noticed that resources don't reappear after they're exhausted. I haven't worried about it since the only game it's happened to me so far I've had more than 1.

I`ll play on to see if I go from 1 to zero sometime..... Wouldn`t be so bad if you can`t loose the last one of any kind....

still it`s a bug, though

strange, I can remember writing almost the same stuff like a month ago....

Army movement using the old fashioned 'G' command has a bug sometimes. I dunno if this has been reported already; I didn't want to search through the whole list. I went to move an army of modern armor and it would only let me move the units one at a time, and the army couldn't move. Then the next turn, I moved one of the units that had been in the army again and viola! the army leader scoots over from another square and rejoins his modern armor.

Two bugs here to add to the list. One may be just another AI stupidity.

First one:

When I raze an enemy city, everyone else seems to instantly know (Cheating AI) that some land has opened up and settlers start heading there immediately - why I am loathe to raze a city, but with that Culture Flipping nonsense I often have to. No, 1.17 did NOTHING I can see to have garrisons stop it - not when ten veteran units disappear in a flipping town of '5'.

But that's just dumb; the BUG is this. Even the ENEMY AI I am at war with continuously sends settler/pikemen teams right into the teeth of my military. And of course they are destroyed and I pick up some slave labor. It is so dumb it is boring, besides being illogical to the point it makes the game irritating.

Stop the flood of settlers!

Second bug:

I have noticed a number of times that the turn doesn't really end. The last unit active keeps repeating its last command animation and I can't get out of the turn, not until I've waited a long time and tried going to various advisors. I am not refering to the delay between actual turns.

flood of settlers: old one. they build settlers to have them ready when needed, then don`t know what to do with them. also, plunking down a town with an excess settler on freshly open ground can seriously slow down an enemy approach.

end turn problem: you can press shift+return to end turn immediately, even when units are still unmoved that turn. have you tried that???

Shaitan, for one thing I thought this was a forum to report bugs, hence the "1.17f problems/bug reports". Another thing, just changing the colors back doesn't help. The computer still freezes at the main Civ III screen. I have to reinstall the game. I think that this problem is just as valid as any other topic being discussed in this forum. Please don't dismiss my comment just because you don't think of it as being important. Whew! That feels better!

Sorry mate. Wasn't trying to dismiss your comment. Just wanted to help you get back up and running.

This is amazingly annoying. I'll also get something like this occasionally when I build a city. The city window never pops up. The quick fix is to save the game and reload it.

Great! I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this problem. I thought it might be me. Nope, Firaxis screwed up again.

Saving and reloading is an option - but not a good one when you have a dozen civs in the Industial Age - takes too long.

PATCH THAT TOO, Firaxis.

And stop sending those damn settlers into my territory like diarhhea, at least not when we are at war! It is soooo dumb.

I am having two problems. I am hoping that they are not bugs, but that I am just doing something wrong and someone here can help me.

By the way, I have installed the 1.17 patch.

First: I am having a problem with the Cruise Missle. I can't seem to load it onto a carrier. I tried with the carrier empty and partially full. If I put the carrier in a city, I can move the cruise missle into the same city but I don't get the option to load it. If I put the carrier outside the city, I can't move the cruise missle onto the same tile as the carrier. Any ideas?

Second: This one I'm not sure if it is a bug or I just missed it in the rules somewhere. Can you airlift a great leader? I invaded a continent and have a few cities. I got a great leader from one of my battles there and I moved him into one of my cities. I have no use for him there and I would like to move him back to my main continent. I built an airport in the city where he is, but it doesn't let me airlift him.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Not sure about the cruise missile but the great leader is behaving as planned. You can't airlift them.

The game is so WACKY it allows airlifting of War Elephants - but not Leaders! :crazyeyes

Go the the Editor and change these functions (maybe it'll work). All armor and cavalry should not airlift either.

Is this a bug - or just more AI extortion??

I offered a Polite civ, for a World Map, the following: my World Map, 155 gold, 3 gold per turn, Literature. No sale!!

Is the AI an extortionist - or just insane? Whatever it is, it sure makes for a lousy game.
