1.52 Font Problem

I just installed 1.52 and when I try to run the game I get to the menu but there is no text anywhere. The entire menu screen is there, graphics, menu windows, music, etc.. The buttons are there and they work however there is no text anywhere. I tried reinstalling the patch and it didn't fix it. I installed it over v1.09 without blue marble and without harkonen's fix.

Additionally, the "ThemeParseLog.txt" file in the civ4 folder gives the following log:

Any ideas or suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Had the same problem. I corrected it by removing all the custom XML files I had created in the "My Documents" folder.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I have no custom XML files to remove, or any other custom files. If fact my entire "CustomAssets" folder and sub folders in My Documents is completely empty.

Any other ideas?

Yeah. I have the same. But I installed this patch with prior harkonen's patch. So - to have harkonen or not - doesn't matter. Anyway - I have fonts - but some strange arabic font or something like this. But the problem is the same.

Well I managed to fix it by uninstalling Civ 4 completely.. including everything in documents and settings, etc. Then I reinstalled it and downloaded the 1.52 patch from the automatic update inside the game. It seemed to work fine after that and I can see the text again and everything. I made a backup of some of those assets though, just in case.

I was having the same problem, but through a lot of trial and error was able to determine that CustomAssets/xml/GlobalDefines.xml was responsible. I simply deleted it, copied the v1.52 Assets/xml/GlobalDefines.xml to CustomAssets/xml, remade the change I had made to the old version, and the text in the main menu showed up again. The errors in ThemeParseLog.txt seem to be irrelevant as I'm still getting them even with the working main menu text. I don't know if this is the only thing responsible, but it worked for me so it might work for someone else and save them the trouble of reinstalling.
