With the latest incantation I keep running across the following issues:

1) After the 30 turns open borders agreement (both sides), I get a message saying open borders expired. However the comp can still run through my borders and vice versa. I've even had an issue where the comp ran 20 workers around my capital - neither my workers or military units without an over DOW although their military could manuver around their workers in my territory without issue.

2) After a DOW and AI capitulation, peace treaty signed. After 30 turns, expired but then the 'peace treaty expired' message keeps popping up every tun afterwards.

3) Barbarian naval units are just pants - there's no need to bother building a navy to deal with them. In the last game, they'd pillage your fishing boats and make an outright nuicance of themselves demanding extermination. Now they may ping a worker or military unit (ineffectivley) but they're not what I was expecting, especially as their land eqivalents may go on a pillaging spree if not dealt with.

4) Is it just me or once a tile's bought/expanded into, there's no way for an opponent to take that tile over without militarily taking the city it belongs to?

About #4, you can take your opponents tile over also by using a great artist to culture bomb the tiles so that they become your territory.

Which of course invites them to take back the tiles using real bombs.

I do like this though - I never liked the shifting cultural boundaries. Once I take a tile, it is mine, until you take it from me.

Have not had a chance to drop a culture bomb yet. I usually just GA my GA's...

I haven't seen them pillage, but they will blockade your harbor, preventing you from working the water tiles and blocking any water trade route you have. While adding pillaging on top would make things even worse, barb naval units as they stand now are still something that you should be dealing with as quickly as possible.

And, if you don't have a navy by the time the barbs start sending out destroyers, you'll wish that you did.

(And, of course, difficulty level is an important factor. Barbs get increasingly nasty as the level increases.)
