I assume you refer to crash to desktop ? (not to clued up to jargon)
If so, send the save and your password to a buddy and see if they have the same problem ... at least this will confirm the problem is with the save as opposed to with your installation of Civ following your recent PC problems.

As background though, this weekend I had completely re-installed my PC from scratch, including drivers and O/S, on re-formatted disks, so it should be pretty clean.
Also, I can consistently reload the earlier saves without problem, so it appears to be specific to this save, rather than the software.
I also recently had problems in another game (PTW) where someone could not load. We solved this by sending him the identical save through an email address different from gmail.
So I'm wondering if gmail is becoming a problem.
The other difference between now and before would be the addition of all the Win2k security patches, whereas previously I was just running on SP4.

I have witnessed players having problems with gmail also, usually regarding the maximum size of files permitted.
Over the past 10 days or so, I have also been getting Norton warnings concerning emails I have been sending to you, although they seem to have been sent normally so I thought nothing of it.

Weird.
My gmail is automatically forwarded to my ISP mailbox, from where i download it to outlook via pop3.
Only, I haven't yet re-installed MSOffice, so I don't have Outlook at the moment, so I downloaded it from gmail.
I just tried downloading it from my isp webmail, and it played ok.
So it looks like the problem is specific to a gmail download..... whatever...
