In Civ 3 the economy is run by the state, not by each city, so when you pull a unit out of a city all the people don't get unhappy. I really like when the people get unhappy cause you can starve them to death and lose all your units in the town including settlers that are developing the town. Then you lose your units guarding the town and it is easily conquered by the enemy.

Certainly, CivII is, overall, a simpler game than CivIII, but how is it not grand? It's the definition of grand strategy!

Yes! I especially like at least the color scheme and city graphics of Civ2 much better than those of Civ3. And of course, there is no "spearman defeating tank" phenomenon in Civ2!
