This is not a rants thread. Mistakes can happen. The new patch does have some good and some ood changes. What is your opinion: would you like Civ V to be set prepatch .674 or are you happy with the patch as the positive changes outnumber the weird ones by far?

I think we all want a great, fast, bug-free Civ V. Until the game/patch is fixed do you want to play with the patch or do you prefer Civ V to be reset to the version before .674?

Multiple opinions enabled.

Hey, where's the poll? Jeez, letdown..

I'm not enamoured with the poll. I mean, I do like some of the options (skip intro video and quick combat and such) but the fact that it has caused significant slowdown for some people sours me on it, because it does very little when all is said and done. If the patch were a huge one, OK - but as it stands, it's a small patch that broke the game for some people. Better quality control there, Firaxis?

I'd like to be able to choose the version of Civ 5 I want to play so I can finish my old game. But with Steam, I can't. That's why I chose the second option of the poll, prepatch state please :P

My labtop was far from great but on low settings and on a standard map i could play the game with no problems with mods like the R.E.D pack active. with the update though the game lags baaad, cycling between cities can take up to a minuet. I've been playing as spain and it took me two minuets just to switch between Barcelona and Madrid. if they can fix the performance loss I'd be happy. Heck i pre-orded gods and kings before this patch. now i don't know if it will even work.

The changes to the menus are OK, but the fact that the end turn button now has the top priority during your turn over EVERYTHING else is a MAJOR game breaking problem. Before the patch my turns were a couple mins of me giving troops orders and setting build queues and then checking on a couple things. Now each turn is taking 15mins because I have to go through and check that all my buildings are done one by one, have to make sure that all my troops were given movement orders, have to check that I have taken care of any enemy troops in my area.

Plus the patch also broke ALL the mods I was using in my current game, NONE of them work anymore. Unless this stuff is fixed they have lost someone who has been playing this series since its launch. Its bull that a patch can break THIS many things and be released after launch...

Mods will always be broken by a patch.. don't expect mods to work with a brand new patches, that's like the cardinal rule of games.

I'm having zero issues with the patch, so I'm fine with it. It's not like the patch wasn't tested or anything, so I think that poll option is a bit misleading (hell, the patch even went into beta testing for a week or two). And from what I've read, most or all of the "slow turn/crash" issues are fixable with the config.ini file changes.

There also seems to be a hotfix patch coming up rather shortly as I've recieved confirmation from 2k Support.. and Greg said he'll try to get the ETA on Hotfix on Mon.

ok. maybe the poll is misleading. maybe I had too high expectations regarding the patch because it was beta tested. I assumed that beta testing reveals a lot of issues which are improved before a patch is rolled out.

I had played Civ V and could only buy negative influence on CS, which might not have been due to the patch but because I played a limited number of turns - an old bug/feature, maybe.

The game is definitely slower: when I open the city screen, I see the picture of the production of the last city first and then slowly the correct picture is shown. Units change to ships before they go on water.

Anyway, I had the feeling that good and bad changes were made and wanted to know what others think of the changes of the patch.

turns takes much longer now in early game. Quite annoying. But AI seems to be better militaryristic

I think we might be imagining that the turns are actually slower, well they ARE. but only because the computer now moves each nation individually. So the more civs there are, the longer these turns will take.

It would be nice if they added a small gizmo that would appear which civ is taking it's turn, so you would be aware that each civ is taking turns seperately instead together.

I like the changes. But again, when people have problems after a patch, it's never good for the game, especially with the XP just days from release now.

Definitely agree, but a rollback is never the right answer. They need to keep the bugfixes and largely positive changes but fix the slowdown some people are reporting.

Rollback is never the right answer.

There is probably some times rollback is neccessary, and that would include if they broke the game COMPLETELY i.e made it 100% unplayable without possibility to find out the cause.

I'm having the strangest problem with the new patch. Whenever a unit take damage, the little circle icon of the unit disappears, as well the damage bar. They will not return until the unit if fulled healed, and THEN moves, then the circle comes back. This includes enemy units, and when the circle is gone, there is no way to tell how much damage it has taken unless you are actively attacking it. No at a glance information.

It makes units almost invisible because I'm trained now to look for the giant circle icons on every unit.

Anyone else getting this?
