2 dumb questions...

im no computer wiz so 99% of you prolly know the answers, i dont...

here goes:

1.lately when i try to save any picture from internet i can only save them in GIF format,not jpg or bmp,how do i fix that?
i dont even get the option to change the GIF thing, i remmeber this happening on my old pc too,then after a while it would be fine again,what is that?


2.how do i turn off the sounds in the internet explorer?
you know how some web pages have those cheesy sound bytes in them them?
(specialy those made by amateurs, not the professionally made ones)
how do i turn that thing off?

1. Its probably because the image has been uploaded as a gif. If you try and save some different images then you should be able to save them as jpegs etc.

2. Tools -> Internet Options -> advanced tab -> scroll down to the multimedia options and untick the play sounds in web pages option.

Like Dell said, the pics you're trying to save are uploaded to the site as gif, if you want to convert use some picture editor program to do so after saving the pic to you computer as a gif. I like Irfanview for this, it's free too.

I guess they can't have a high level of quality in the first place if they have been uploaded as gifs so saving them as gifs shouldn't reduce the quality...

no im 100% sure ALL pics i try to save can only be saved as gif,yes?

not only those uploaded as gif, ALL of them!

also all the original name of the ppicture disappears too,example if theres a jpg called hottie.jpg and when i try to save it, the name has been changed to unnamed and the format to gif!!

weird, what are the odds of all the pics i try to save in 2 days are all gif??!?

It could be. There's a, well, bug, (might be a feature, knowing M$!) with IE that you can only save files as .bmp, but that only happens when your temp folder is too big. I've never seen it where it will only save as a .gif. I'm guessing you just had a run of .gifs.

You should be able to save the pic as a .gif, open it with MSPAINT, and then save it as your format of choice.

yeah thanks i knew that

also i could just type in(in the save as window) a name and then .jpg and that would work its just that its a pain in the ass...

the thing started when i moved a few files around in the "save-as" window, thats what triggered it

the thing is i went to a site ive been visiting for 4 years,all the pics there are always .jpg, no other format is ever used there,but these 2 days everything was gif , even their pics

If you were really desparate, you could do a screenshot then crop it until just the picture remained, then save it however you want it.
