This is on Emperor, Siam spawned close to me (Nappy), then taunted me when all I had was a warrior.

1 Horseman, 1 Chariot, and my starting warrior, who did not attack anything, was all that was needed to kill Siam. It took 2 full health promos on the horseman to finish his cap. He had 1 settler that I captured, then a couple warriors and an archer or so. He made 1 warrior while his cap was under seige.

You can get tremendous economy of force. 600BC and I have 2/3 of a continent sowed up. I almost always go AH first. In this case, there were 2 horses 3 tiles from Paris, so I purchased the tiles. I also purchased the horseman, but not the chariot. No other military buffs were involved.

trying to buy all units with babylon

(stndrd/ emperor)

but i keep buying tiles

and at war i don;t get attacked for about a million turns and then 50 billion troops show up and kill me

the evidence is clear- Buy all Horse

and by the way a second city island build is really strong in this version - no need for wrkers or defense or anything
civ4 tricks that never quite worked - do

At some point I will try a multiplayer game just for the achievement.

a freind of mine bought the game and asked if i wanted to go onto multiplayer and team up or something

(wife just had a baby girl so i am thinking he needs some civ for sanity or something)

whats the point?

i think the point is if i see you on there i will build a navy and cover your flank

the evidence is clear- Since i play Babylon i have no idea what civ to use in multiplayer- probably america or someone no one chooses

Thatch Weave. Maybe Germany.

I'll check out MP and look for you.

Horseman rushing needs to be nerfed somewhat. I think reducing their movement to 3 turns per tile like knights might somewhat reduce their effectiveness vs the AI which can't really deal with 4 movement horses very well early on.

.. neilkaz ..

In this case reducing movement isn't enough. A horseman is strong enough to easily take down an capital with a chariot as support even if it has to suffer a round or two from the city defense. The instant heal promo is of course very valuable.

And if you don't really want the capital, a chariot, a warrior and a scout can criple the AI and force them to give all their gold for peace without really delaying own expansion or science rate(to get the city you'll need a couple of more units). Even without horses near your capital, settling 2nd city on horses is good enough. And this is really what amazes me most. You really doesn't need to put any effort into a "rush". There's no need for whipping, chopping, strictly prioritizing techs and so on. In Civ5, emperor and below, you can get writing, calendar and masonry and THEN find out "hey, I want to do a chariot/spear war".

Windsor - This is all fine because the Parthenon was built 400 years before Alexander was born.

With competent mp players you will have difficulties to rush with horsemen. Around 2000 b.c. its somewhat easy to have 2-3 spearmen ready for some action.

When you beeline horsemen you can buy and build a horseman around that time (2 in all), and sometimes gold doesnt grow up as fast as you want if there is no CS, no ruins, no luxuries ressources riversided in cap, etc.

But i think it worth the try because at least you can harrass your opponent and even steal a worker and make him quit after a couple of turns...:mischief:

"you can harrass your opponent and even steal a worker and make him quit after a couple of turns"

"Win at Multiplayer? I never win at multiplayer. I make them quit and cry home to mama"

Attacko- 2010
