It's getting to be that time again gents! Just picked up my fantasy baseball magazine for bathroom reading material. :mischief:

Thought I would post this early, since I prefer deeper leagues with 18 players because they're more challenging and fun in my opinion. We got a lot of time to fill the league before the season starts.

League ID: 37963
League Name: Game of Thrones

well, the cfc league's setting are pretty much in place, after many years of refinement. so i just don't want folks here at cfc to confuse your thread with the standard cfc league we've been running. that's all.

I only run big leagues (18 teams) and players have the freedom to update their lineup daily if they like. Pretty much opposite of the cfc settings.

I doubt you will get 18 people here. Make this a keeper league and I may be willing to put up with daily changes.

I will still also play in the actual CFC league of course.

I'd be up for a bigger league especially with daily instead of weekly lineups.

Can you have a keeper league in Yahoo?

Yes, but you have to keep the records outside of the league. We could just agree on a keeper system and maintain the records off site, e.g. here. We could do salary cap dynasty style or something simpler like keep 3 or something.

i'd do it, sign up, but am extremely leery of daily lineup changes. that and the fact that there's hope for 18 teams. it's just too much. by that i mean that it's hard enough getting 10, 12 whatever to join weekly leagues...AND actually maintaining said teams. iow, there's lots of chance for inactive teams which is BS (yet almost unavoidable) in fantasy sports.

I hear those concerns. Getting 18 teams shouldn't be too much of a challenge, especially if you start early. Last season I was commish for several leagues and actually had to expand and create new leagues to accommodate everyone. Interest tends to build as it gets closer to opening day. I despise inactive teams like you, but the only way to truly avoid that is if there's a monetary incentive to stay active. One thing I do to mitigate zombie teams is to have a couple substitute players ready on the sideline to takeover any inactive team.

well, you'll have a helluva time getting folks from this forum to pay to play. we've tried this in the past with very little success. it's not about commitment. it's more about the unknowns of an internet forum, being indebted to a league etc etc. i can guarantee one thing though : you will have inactive teams, even in money leagues. i've seen it. it's unavoidable.

I can't pay to play, not for this league at least.

Cryptic, if you can corral 18 people on this forum to join your league I will change my Avatar to whatever you want for 1 week.

Certainly won't pay to play, but I am going to give the cfc league a try again. I think I got off to a bad start last time round, not actually getting to participate in the draft and all, but I'm going to make a serious effort to be more active this time round :)

I'm open to the idea of a money league, but let's see if we can get 18 warm bodies to commit to a free league first.

I never did a keeper league before, but I'm open to the idea. One thing is for sure though, young phenoms like Mike Trout will be the first off the board during draft day in any keeper league scenario.
