3.13 patch, multiplayer, and loss of sync

I think the folder in vista is at a different place. You should try "C:\Users\<User Name>\Appdata\Local\My Games\Beyond the Sword\cache", but it could be a different folder. Afaik some of this folders are also hidden by default, so you have to activate "show hidden folders" as Bhruic described above. Also note, that the folder options in vista are only accessible by the control panel and no longer in the explorer, which took me quite some time to figure this out. If you still can´t find the folder you could run a search on your harddrive for the folder "beyond the sword".

Perhaps you could tell us the exact location of the folder in Windows vista after you found it, so that this question is answered.

does this folder need to be deleted more than once? Is it a permant fix?

I am glad that it worked. Take2 wanted me to uninstall both Bts and Van Civ 4. They should read these pages as part of their training.

the game will recreate those directories when they are not there - so in theory it could reoccur, but if all players have patched allright and then deleted them this is unlikely.

Actually, a much easier way to do it that I forgot, is just hold the "shift" key during the game startup. It'll automatically delete the cache itself doing that. No need to mess around trying to find/delete the proper files.

Wow. I have to say this comment should be in lights. It is a simple solution to something many of us have found more difficult ways to solve!

Ok, I turned on some logs, and got this of MPLog right after me and my friends game went OOS, which it does every few rounds (removed 1 space between each line for sake of saving space). Direct IP game, 2 huma, 8 Ai, large map, BtS 3.13 and Bhruics patch. Anyone know what it means?

It used to be that OOS was an annoyance, sometimes a big one, but now (after christmas or so), it has become a menace that ruins mid to late game play. Before, we COULD get lucky and have hours of play uninterrupted, but now it is sure to come within 10 turns once we hit late-midgame.

Clearing the cache helps not.

Disabling random events helps not.

A thorough deinstall with a pristine install (BtS, 3.13 and Bhruics patch) on both me and my friends pc helps not.

I disabled my antivirus, thinking that possibly the program scanning the ever larger information stream as the game progress somehow delayed the stream, causing OOS. Daft laymans guess, but after trying everything else... Thought for a little while it helped, but nah. 10 minutes of play and the OOS was there.

So now we can't really bother to play it at all. Tried 3-4 restarts, thinking that maybe the entire game had somehow become corrupted, but the OOS hit mid-late game every time. Can't see why it should now have gotten even worse.

I'm just wondering did either of you ever have Solver's Events mod installed prior to the 3.13 patch?

I downloaded 3.17 along with my bro who play and we get the oos when a random event occurs. Anyway to fix without having to turn off random events?

where is that on vista, because i go to the "c:\documents and settings" and it says access denied.

To clear game cache you just go into the bts folder\cache and ddelete the cache folder right?

Also doing that doesn't affect game play right. Like loss of random events, stupider AI, or anything like that.

did you install the game with admin rights?
you should be able to clear it by holding down the shift key during game startup - but if it denies you access to the path where it should reside it is possible that the same happens for the game...
of course all players should clear the cache...
