The only problem is that if I use Formation II or make Agincourt like in v21 then it will work in both defense or ofense. For melee unit it will give CS in defense and CS in offense, but for Longbowman it will give CS in Defense and RCS in Offense. So Longbowman will have:
  • 14 CP + 10% from open terrain + 25% if defending from mounted unit and
  • 18 RCP + 25% if attacking mounted unit.
In sql you only define Unit, UnitClass and Value.

You can’t define an “on attack only vs domain” value? Other possibility is simply make them 2 separate promotions, or make 2 invisible promotions and 1 dummy promotion with the accurate text, or just drop the 10% when defending.

Probably not. It's in different table.
Coup de grace has changed column AttackAbove50HealthMod. So it works only on attack. But if you put it on Melee it will have wrong description (RCS). Just like Formation on Longbowman.

Is it worth it in that case? You’d have to make an entirely identical promotion, just to change that one little error

Worth. :p I plan also change an Icon. For now I used Formation one. But pikes are not good for bowman.

  • It is possible that Sarcohagus Artifacts are placed in burial tomb by lua?
  • Maybe we could change Crown Jewel to Art. I would restore then old theming format from Hermitage.

Just tested the v. 21 :
- The Barbican "33% RCS bonus" works as intended (I've tested all types of land unit to see if there was some inconsistencies)
- I've been through the civilopedia : nice additions you put there ;). There may be a problem with the Winged Hussard building requirements for being purchased in the civilopedia (Stable + Armory required apparently ; the Hakkapeliitta only requires the Stable according to the civilopedia).
- I reverified the "Coup de Grace" promotion and its effect on the effect on the Kopesh, and the promotion works well.

Some other things to say about the Barbican :
- The description of the Barbican hasn't been updated : it still says that the building give the "Medic I" promotion.
- The yields of the Barbican seem like a toned-down version of the ones of the Japanese Dojo : since the Krakow Barbican was considered "a masterpiece of medieval military engineering" and is today a famous landmark, why not give the building something else (I have no clear idea for now, but I'll think about it).

Good week. :)

  • I will add Armory requirement. It is not ingame yet. I forgot about it totally.
  • There was no update in description since I don't know, v10? We wait for some stable version and will add everything at once. For now use my main post.
  • I wouldn't mind some small buff to Barbican. It wasn't tested properly and even so it was nerfed couple of times.
  • What's with Coup de Grace description on Khopesh? Does it look awkward?

I’ll look at burial tomb and see if I can’t figure out how it works tonight

I think we shouldn’t go past 10CS on city for barbican, so I think we can stand to some other effect. What if it gave it 5 CS, and 10 ‘pilum’ damage to enemy units adjacent to city? Maybe that’s just too far, and Poland would be impregnable...

Barbican’s been changed 3 Times now. Indian archer has been changed 4 Times. Dust needs to settle, updating those descriptions is a waste of time

Also bear in mind any comparison with dojo is inherently unfair. Japan’s UA is trash and samurai is only any good because of dojo. Japan lives and dies on that UB, meanwhile Poland already has one of the best UAs in the game

@adan_eslavo, it occurs to me that we might be otherthinking this, and that we are probably being overzealous WRT the longbowmen. The unit already has +3RCS/+1CS Vs the chu ko nu, and range is only slightly worse than logistics. Maybe we could just make the Agincourt promotion +15% vs mounted and call it a day

-1 RCP/+1 CP. I set it on 18 RCP instead of -XX RCS from 22 RCP.

I’m a little confused. Longbow has 18 rcs; is that before or after the -20% from range? That’s 2 less than base crossbowman (20). If that’s after range then I think that’s a good spot

Ranged Unit - RCP/CP
Crossbowman - 20/13
Chu Ko Nu - 19/13
Longbowman - 22/14 (that's current VP numbers for the CS gift)
Sofa (Songhai) - 20/12

I'm very surprised to see Chu Ko Nu is 19. With logistics, it is hitting for only 15.2. The wiki still says they are supposed to have 14 CS. IMO we should raise Chu Ko Nu to 20 RCP so it is hitting for an even 16.

I think the longbowman RCP and CP are exactly where they need to be in the base VP. We could add the unit completely unaltered or add the "Agincourt" promotion, but I would keep it simple as a +15-20% RCP vs mounted

is that actually true? Coup de grace works as intended on khopesh? I haven’t tested that yet.

@Blue Ghost, I’m going to get you an icon for the exam hall tonight, and I was thinking I could update Carthage and Venice, and send those two you.
  • I found a spelling error in venice’s Text
  • I need to change carthage’s text descriptions and the sql on the tophet re. My conversation with @Ziad for the changes to tophet.
I don’t know how to do the lua for the new features on the tophet. I have never been able to find a useful instructional guide for civ 5 lua. The new features that have been asked for are relatively simple though. Could I count on you to make the lua?
  • Double, or 1.5x the XP on purchased units. Whatever you think is fair.
    • on UnitPurchase, GetUnitDomain
    • If Domain_Land/Air/Sea/Float, GetUnitXP,
    • add (1*UnitXP) to unit
  • Give small culture bonus on unit purchase in city.
    • On UnitPurchase, GetCurrentEra
    • On city, ChangeCulture (CurrentEra*5)
Yeah, that sounds simple enough. I'll do Carthage's Lua, and I'll let you know if I run into any difficulties.

New version released. No new civs this time, but got through my backlog of changes to existing civs.

I'll be trying this with the new 1/3 patch but as of right now (me using the 12/15 patch and other updated UCs from earlier today) the AI seems to be doing really well at all levels. 00635ea901dffb538552da38b7b6d42c.jpg

The leader (Spain) had twice the score and had America as a Vassal, also at war with second AI, Arabia, who was quite some distance away but who was killing it in the culture & tourism. Arabia had already influenced me and some other civ and had almost three times the culture output of me. He was also a whole social tree ahead.

Keep in mind this at Prince difficulty on a Fractal map. I have even played Babylon before, I was shell-shocked at how the AI was going to beat me.

I don't have much else to say but feel free to ask me any questions about this game as the game just happened in like 2.5 hours this evening so everything is pretty fresh in my mind :)

Please find attached Exam Hall Icon and updates to Carthage and Venice

Carthage
-Removed all gold from Tophet
-Removed food malus from Tophet
-disabled "Hannibal at the Gates" promotion and removed it from Shophet
-Changed all relevant text for the Shopet and Tophet in anticipation for the XP and culture on purchase mechanics
Toned down the meanness on the Tophet:
Spoiler :
Tophet
"Tophet" is a Hebrew term for a place of worship and human sacrifice to the Canaanite gods, and has become a colorful synonym for hell within Judeo-Christian theology. Usually located outside cities, Tophets were holy places where sacrifices to the gods could be presented to The heads of the Phoenician pantheon, Ba'al Hammon, the god of weather and vegetation, and his consort, Tanit.

Regular sacrifices were made to ensure the prosperity of Carthage. After the ceremony, ashes of the burnt offering were placed within a vessel and stones were placed on top of the funerary urns to seal them within the Tophet. Child sacrifice, once prevalent throughout the Near-East, was a persistent hallmark of Carthaginian religious life long after contemporary cultures had shunned the practice. Modern archaeological evidence suggests children were sacrificed in times of great stress such as wars, plagues, and natural disasters as an act of divine supplication.

Please use v21 along with 1-3 VP. There were massive balance changes in VP and I adapted my modpack to them.

It has no Range promotion. Just 18 CP + flat 1 Range (lost on upgrade; no promotion). It is almost the same effect (18 vs 17.6 CP) like it would have 22 CP and Range promotion. I modified original CS Longbowman a bit to be simplier.

New version released. No new civs this time, but got through my backlog of changes to existing civs.

Just saw the changes ingame. Two things to say :

- The Pracinha needs a lot of corrections : it is now a Rifleman replacement, but the page of the unit in the civilopedia says that the unit replaces Infantry ; the unit has six attributes compared to the Rifleman (cheaper ; +1 MP ; +5 CP ; Amphibious ; Tourism from killing ; bonus for each tile away from capital city), which is too much ; I think the unit should drop the +5 CP bonus, since the "bonus in foreign lands" already makes it very powerful in combat (by the way, I think we should put a maximum to the effect of this promotion, maybe 30 % CS ?) and the Pracinha where more lightly equipped than their European counterparts.

- The Corsair lost its ability to enter rival territory completely... I still think that the solution was to give the unit the same type of ability as the Chinese UM2 (full access) while also giving the new bonus (barbarians appear when plundering TR) of the "Barbary pirate" promotion to the unit : it would have justified the not-so-high CP of the unit for a UM (when compared to the Sea Beggar and the Armada)... What do you think @adan_eslavo, @pineappledan (I know we have discussed the matter a lot already, but I disagree with this result) ?

  • We are merging things all the time. :p I merged Indonesia, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands and now England from other parts. @BlueGhost merged Venice and Carhage.
  • I will start from merging @BlueGhost's part starting from Egypt soon (and add Flax resource BTW) so yes, we have such plan. :p There will be surely many bugfixes and balance modifications so I would like to share this on 2 people as long as I can. If I took all his work at once then I would have no time for everything.
  • For now I merged all text files into one (lots of copy-paste thing) and rest of xml crap merged into sql. This should make loading times and compiling much faster.

Guys I just edited and filled gaps in Credits.txt to mention effort you put into making this awesome mod. Then it reminded me how I was amazed by Voi and Barbican designs. It started like:
  • "Oh, I will take Poland and TRY TO code it, that's all".
And what happened? I'm here for over 3 months and we are close to the end. Great Job guys!
