paris could be isolated (it has no harbor iirc), but the groups didn't survive for long afterwards. i tried to disconnect the two horses, for the W one i needed to walk over flat lands, which exposed them for a turn or 2. interestingly, i lost more units while beiing on mountains... (lost one musket and one injured to 1/4)
in the east i diveded the troops to pillage horses and gems. i realized shortly after, that the french have more gems online then i can disconnect, all going for the horses would have been the better option.

I have it, just finished SGOTM6, have another SG in front of this but hope to play this one no later than tomorrow night.
 
pre-turn:
Switched couple of cities to universities as a factory pre-builds.
Sold steam to abu for silks and 341 gold. Even if we kill france faster than 20 turns our rep won't matter anymore.
but now we should be able to put lux down to 0%. Went to each city hired bunch of scientist on our corrupted cities and as a result Industrialization will come in 4 turns instead of 8 with 430gold in pocket and -58 budget deficit...

IBT. WLTKD is celebrated in many cities. nothing else happens

T1. 1305AD. Lyons captured with one elite cav lost. What are we going to do with Toulouse???
This is a one tile island and frankly if we follow the game rules strictly we don't have to declare on arabs until we get us some marines :-)

T2-T3. 1310-1315AD. Mostly management tasks moving two combat settlers into french territory and to procure gems and silks at the same time.

T4. 1320AD. Indust. comes; temp. put sci. slider to 10% to collect some cash for rushing factories.

IBT. Oh crap.. Arabs signed peace with france and we lost wine and ivory.

T5. Give Arabs industrialization for Wines, Ivory 475 gold and some obsolete techs. Put sci. slider to max again Medicine in 5 turns.

T6. 1330AD Take Chartes and Orleans. Generated 2 leaders, created an army and rushed HE in Orleans.

T7. 1335AD. Capture Avignon - the last french continental city. Since France still has that one tile city i decided to give us a little slack before declaring on Arabs. No sandbagging or anything. I just want to re-deploy troops for arab invasion and leave the right to declare for the next player since i have only 3 turns to play left.
Started US in Almarich as a prebuild for ToE.

IBT. Lyons deposed lost a spear inside

T8. 1340 AD. Re-take Lyons using Cavs i parked nearby just for such case. Arabs have medicine.

post-turn: medicine comes next turn. I was builging factories in core cities. Once those tasks completed we will have nice productive core for military purposes. Didn't do much of MM on my last turn.

It will take some effort to break Arab resistance but i believe it is quite doable

Most of our Units in Besancon. Few more near Lyons and Rheims.
Most of the naval units are kept in Uliastay. Cavalry and other units are also spread across our empire in case of sneak attack. But defensive rails is practically completed so we shouldn't worry much about that.

This varient does not stipulate that you can only be at war with 1 civ at a time, it just states that you must be at war with at least 1 civ at a time(and in the order they are met). therefore, we can be at war with both the arabs and french. we should be able to trigger domination before we need to worry about the island.

I sandbagged for five turns until I could get a better scope of the task and pre-position the armies to do the most damage on the first strike.

The target is the Arab horse resource outside Santiago which as near as I can tell is the only one.

So I take the settler out of Besancon and build a town on the saltpeter just north of Santiago as it make a nice hilltop salient into the Arab holdings.

Then in 1375 ask Abu poiltely to leave our lands and lo, and behold, he delcares war.

First out is to take and raze Grenoble, position the cannon on the hill with the armies, then take and raze Marseille.


Once that is done move the armies toward the horses, killing Arab cavalry along the way.

There may be bogies in Murcia and Santiago but all the exposed Arab cavalry are dead.

Now let's see what he throws at us....

Some naval bombardment and then a cav from Murcia attacks New Choybalsan, killing a cavalry, and there are cav moving up from the south but that's all folks....

In 1380 do a little mop up around New Choybalsan, removing the incoming threats. Lose a cavalryman to a killer barbarian, though.

Arab counter attack kills two cavalryman but they lose two.

In 1385 kill five more Arab cavalry, lose 1 and expose one. And block the pass with the armies, leaving two Arabs still alive but only one in striking distance.

Abu tries a flanking manuever to the east of New Choy and his troops get chewed. He loses six, we lose one.

I think Abu's cavalry is out of horses, he's given them bows instead. And a volcano erupts in his far south and wipes a tundra village off the map.

The coast is now clear to begin the move south into the Arab Heartland once the armies heal up. The longbows were easily dealt with and there appear to be no more incoming cavalry.

Abu wants to talk, but has nothing meaningful to say. He has no more horses but won't give up anything we need.

I was wrong about the cavalry as five show up, four at New Choybalson and one in the homeland.

1400
Abu's flanking manuveur fails again as his cavalry are pummeled, leaving one to the south of Santiago. The landing at the homeland is foiled by a vet Keshik who gets his golden spurs, maybe Abu will land another soon and the Keshik will get an army for us.

It looks like Abu's peace entreaty was the last gasp of his Democratic government as he is now in anarchy....

I don't think we are going to get to SciMeth before the pre-build runs out, though we could swap to the palace. It will take took all of ten full turns to get to Electricity as the most beakers I could squeeze out were just at or a little over 400 per turn. SciMeth is only a little over 2850 so it can be done in 7 or so, anything much faster is not really feasible.
 
if the next player decides that ToE can't be timed right, let's just build a coal plant and restart.
