Military Instructions - 600AD

Since we are at a military crossroads and RL holiday plans have delayed the release of my latest "novel", I submit more of a general outlook for today's chat:

1. Send 3-5 knights south of Leningrado to monitor the French/ English front. I would like troops at the ready should France decide to declare on us.

2. Attack Kagoshima with what we have on Turn 1. We could catch a break. Send any available knights to the area for back-up. Don't be afraid to use 2-3hp elites. Sometimes triumph over adversity a great leader makes.

3. Send pikes to our perimeters whenever possible.

Merry XMas, Mr. President....... ;)

SW Province

1. Please mine the mountain outside Eklektochtitlan

2. If build queues run out, switch to pikes and send to our perimeters.

3. With Forty J's approval, please rush library in Nocfiedera(88g).

Morgana - [c]University(41)
Strider's Haven - [c]Worker(2), Pikeman(5), Pikeman(5)
The Burrow - [c]Marketplace(9), University(10)
Palanthus - Pikeman (8), Settler (8), Marketplace (25), Pikeman (8)

Tarkingrad - [c]Worker(1), Barracks(~7), Worker(4)
Clevland - [c]Library(15)
New City #10 - Library

Micromanage:

Palanthus - Move the worked tile on the empty grassland (no roads) to the coast. We get 1 more commerce out of it. Mine the tile west of the wheat and north of the horse. It's a bonus shield grassland. Also mine the shielded grassland north of it. Move the two worked tiles off of the wheat (irragated and mined) and into the coast. We get 1 more commerce from there.

Dacula - Move the worked tile from the wheat to the roaded, irragated plains.

Penguin - Move the 2 worked tiles in the forest north of the city to the coast. (we gain 1 commerce)

Turn 1 - When Tarkingrad builds a worker, make sure the worked tiles are on the forest to the SW, and the plains to the north and northeast.

Turn 4 - When Penguin grows, make sure the next worked tile is in the coast.

Turn 6 -

Morgana - After it grows, place 2 worked coastal tiles onto the forests, and place another on the hill. The University should be done 10 turns afterwards. (it would be 17 turns now for 2 forests, but waiting gets it done in 16).

Presidential Instructions

Due to RL I will not be running tonight's turn chat, so I'd just like to ask the DP to leave the small Jap city to the north unmolested until Kagoshima has fallen. This is because you will find that blocking the path to that city every other turn will keep the Russians from interfering with our plans as they will simply keep wandering backwards and forwards, unsure what to do. :D

600 AD - Domestic Department

Budget Items (in order of priority)
  • All upgrades from Spearmen to Pikemen are approved as long as funds are available.
  • Upgrades from Horsemen to Knights are approved as long as funds are available.
  • Maintain a minimum balance of 232gp as an emergency fund in the event we need to rush a defensive unit somewhere.
Rush the following items:
  • Library in Leningrado (136g)
  • Library in Nocsfiedera (88g)
  • Settler in Pengiun (52g)
  • University in Androbius (in turn 4, as soon as it costs 72g or less)
  • Library in Nara (60g)

Settler Instructions
Octavinium Settler should be moved according to this poll.

Penguin Settler should be moved according to this poll.

In both cases, if the poll fails to reach quorum, follow the majority vote. If there is a tie in either poll, choose the site recommended by the department. If that site is not one of the top vote getters, and there is no member of the Domestic Department in the chat to break the tie, use a spot vote to break the tie.

Mid Turn 2 save

It saddens me to report a disastrous debut as Designated Player. The preturn went rather smoothly, despite having to boot up and install the 1.29 patch on my old computer at home.... ;)

Just as I was beginning to hold out hope that this turn chat would go well, things turned sour. Our forces heading for Kagoshima met with heavy resistance. In fact, a fully healed elite knight fell on the first wave. Then, Yokohama revolted and pledged allegiance to the Japanese! We were essentially experiencing a cascade of failures on the western front.

Fortunately, we were able to retake Yokohama when we discovered that Osaka, previously captured by the Russians, had reverted back to Japanese control as well! We immediately dispatched troops from nearby Kyoto in an attempt to beat the Russians and Indians to the city.

But then, real life inserted itself back into the picture and I was forced to step down as DP. All in all, a rather unfruitful and disappointing debut. Hopefully, the next DP will have better fortune. Now, I guess I'll go back to running my casino.

We have decided to stop the Turn Chat at turn 7. The reason, When the Zulus poped up and offered to exchange maps, many of the citizens does not like the deal. While looking for a good deal I had discovered that the Zulus has the Gunpowder advance. I wish to inform the Trade and The Science Department that it is possible to get there Gunpowder.
In other News we have captured Kago and "Toyland" ending the Japanese sphear of influence near our borders. The Question comes to mind. Who is next in our conquest.

Turn 7 Save

Chat Log

Addendum to CivGeneral's previous post...
There are, in fact, more than one civ that have discovered Gunpowder at this point. We should pursue the potential purchase of this tech and/or other techs that may be available lest we fall too far behind in the tech race.
