6otM07 After Action

Turn 357 science victory, score 1435.

So this is the first one I had to replay to get a win. I tried a mostly peaceful play on the first run but I wasn't able to get enough land and Gilga went absolutely bonkers on science and launched his last mars component when I had just finished my first.

I tried again and since Harald has no science affinity really, I decided to just go domination to suppress the ability of the competing civs from being able to launch any space components. 3 civs started launching space stuff, England, America, and Arabia. I had to nuke them all to ashes to give myself time to catch up.

- How many cities did you settle or capture?
47 settled/captured, not sure the breakdown.

- What did you prioritize for research and policies?
Archery into horseman which let me conquer China and France with ease and take a few cities off of Russia. Then it was to Steel and Flight to get range 3 artillery. Using those I took out Gilga, and Peter didn't seem to be going science so I just let him alone.I found a foothold on the other major continent by taking out Valetta.

- What order did you take down your opponents?
China, France, Sumeria, England, Arabia, America, England again, then America and Arabia decided to declare war on me for some reason so I nuked every last one of their cities.

-What did you build for an Army and how did it change?
I had about 8 horseman and a few archers as my main army. Upgraded them to cavalry when I could and then I focused on artillery and bombers w/ modern armor to take the city.

- Did you use diplomacy? How?
I brokered a few joint wars to keep the AI busy with each other which seemed to help slow them down some. I also traded a ton of GPT to Catherine for about 2200 gold, then immediately declared war on her, thanks for the gold!

- Did religion come into play in your game, please explain.
Not at all.

- Were City-States helpful?
They helped augment gold and science production but were not that useful this game.

- Any surprises you ran into, how did you deal with it?
How bad Harald is when he can't use his coastal raiding ability. There were no coastal cities for the first half or more of the game so it wouldn't have been worth approaching this map like that.

- Did you enjoy the game?
This one was really frustrating, I wanted to play it peaceful and win, but I just didn't see that happening.
