Mapuche culture victory, turn 210; 1181 points (Eleanor of Aquitaine)
Interesting start with lots of early action due to Pangea map I guess. I settled 2SW in between horses and sugar, building warrior, settler, warrior, builder, slinger. Second city settled on lake to E for lux, hills and the Zhangye NW, which provided an abundance of early GG and GM. The availability of horses and GG led to a horseman rush after early skirmishes with England for experience and workers. War with the combined forces of Aztec, Cree and Netherlands led to total conquest of Aztec but with Tenochtitlan rather exposed far to my W. I then turned my horseman and knights to the conquest of England, which yielded some juicy wonder-laden cities. I completed the circle of conquest with Kabul, which had been a useful ally for army building but eventually became an obstacle to my infrastructure development. After that it was largely growth and culture / science pushing with OB and trade routes to the AI when possible.
I was delighted to discover Spain as the final AI on the map, which allowed me to claim the Mapuche achievement by capturing Madrid.
I liberated Bandar Brunei at least 3 times from the Netherlands.
A fun game but not sure how much the Mapuche features contributed to it. The Toqui UA was good in terms of the combat bonus vs AI in GA but not sure how effective the loyalty bonuses were (I find the info on Loyalty changes a bit opaque). The Chemamull was very nice for mid-game culture and late-game tourism, but there weren’t that many suitable tiles in my built-up cities. I never got to build a Malon Raider as it came late in my chosen tech path and I was already overflowing with mounted units.
