For now, I'll hold my own thoughts to hear from our citizens.

For convenience sake....

Well, rather than starting a new thread, I guess we should start thinking about our tech trades here.

The best trade to me looks to be Alphabet to Cesar for Archery, Fishing, and Masonry. I doubt he has better relations than us with the other AIs so I don't think he'll be able to get anything out of them for alphabet, so if we keep looking back at the trade window every turn we might be able to see an opportunity to trade alphabet to Bismark of Napoleon later on. Pottery might also be useful for a later trade with Cesar, but that's far from clear.

I suggest that we keep Alphabet only to ourselves and not trade it to anyone. We have a monopoly on it after all! We could trade pottery for archery with someone and then trade pottery to get fishing with another AI. We get the best of two worlds without having to give up alphabet.

Masonry could be obtained at another window of opportunity later.

Neither Bismarck nor Napoleon has mysticism? How odd. And everyone has got writing

I think that getting archery for pottery from Caesar might be good. It seems that he's building Stonehenge though, what's the reason he has mysticism redded out?

While there is a little risk someone can discover alphabet this turn, I agree

with dutchfire: trade with Caesar, pottery for archery; and wait for next turn

to see if better options are on for alphabet.

Best regards,

I agree with Methos: wait with trading until we have something worthwile to get in return for Alphabet.

Well, I'd like to not trade anything. Archery is a so cheap tech. Can anyone see how many turns would it get to complete?
Actually, I've become less friendly to alphabet recently. The more I play, the less I want to trade. Well, it's always good to trade Alpha for IW. But IW is cheaper. ;)
The only thing I like to get from Alphabet is the path to Literature and The Great Library. Besides that... Well... I'd never even bother researching the top path. It's pretty common seeing in my games that I delay Drama until veeeeeery late...

Well, back to the point: We'll have serious trouble trading with these AIs. I looked into the XML and they have the following attributes for trading:

LEADER_JULIUS_CAESAR
<iNoTechTradeThreshold>5</iNoTechTradeThreshold>
<iTechTradeKnownPercent>40</iTechTradeKnownPercent>

LEADER_BISMARCK
<iNoTechTradeThreshold>5</iNoTechTradeThreshold>
<iTechTradeKnownPercent>70</iTechTradeKnownPercent>

LEADER_NAPOLEON
<iNoTechTradeThreshold>10</iNoTechTradeThreshold>
<iTechTradeKnownPercent>60</iTechTradeKnownPercent>

It means that Julius and Biz will hit the WFYABTA soon and Napoleon and Biz will not trade anything if all the other AI's don't have it. Why I say this? Because they all are willing to trade something with us (So, the "we don't like you enough" isn't the reason they won't trade) and IW doesn't enable any wonders for them to be building. The only other reason they won't trade is Napoleon and Biz haven't yet met. Is there any chance of this?

giving away pottery to JC for either fishing or archery is a decent deal. Trading away Alpha not.

Trade for Archery and don't trade Alphabet (for now). Fishing isn't that useful to us at the moment, and Archery not only gives us a decent defensive unit but it's a necessary tech to build our UU.
