A Babylon 5 Mod for the Final Frontier Mod

Hello. I just found this mod and really enjoy it. But I noticed that there are no B5 maps made, so I'm having a go at doing a map for B5.

I'm doing it based on the major powers of 2259 that I have access to, including cultural boundries. But I have had to take a few liberties, mostly with the Drazi, Brakiri, Balanced League and the Dilgar, but only because I want all of the races to have a minimum of 10 worlds.

I'm going to set the map out before playing around with diplomacy, starting time, racial boundries or tech.

I will say that the map is crammed with star-systems so far, but I should be able to squeeze in some phenomena and resources.

I'm also thinking of doing that same map blank except for the homeworlds.

I have come across a few problems. Most are minor and I'll look into those when they become important.

The main one is every time I reload the map, the star-systems go blank. No sun and no planets, but I'm going to look at this to see if this helps at all.

The other one is that I only seem able to edit one planet in worldbuilder, unless I reload multiple times (Which I will do if no alternative presents itself).

I only have the EA and the leagues to do.

The maps are one of the many things still to do. We planned to do maps for the scenarios mentioned in previous posts but a lack of time as well as some problems in getting a game past the first turn are preventing me making any more progress at present. I'm taking my PC into the repairers to get them to put right what they messed up this weekend. That puts me out of action for another 2 weeks at least.

I do look forward to seeing your B5 map, so don't be stopped by my own problems.

Hello everyone!,

I want to thank Eusebius, God-Emperor (again :D), and Spideredd (BTW welcome to the forums ) for their efforts and contributions to the mod.

That puts me out of action for another 2 weeks at least.

That is the two of us then... I was unable to locate the BtS DVD I talked about earlier (alongside Crysis Warhead :( ), so I'm declaring it officially lost; I'm already evaluating options to get a new copy.

So, those ships already modeled will have to wait a little more.

:salute:

Note to self, put old discs(games) in a spare cd case.:w00t:
Nice work on the mod. :goodjob:

I've found Problems of my own to be honest. I can't fit the whole map into the space allowed and not have the star systems overlap. So I'm having a go at a different tack.
I still have problems with the Dilgar home system being well off the new map, but I'll put them somewhere else to balance out the fact that bot the Minbari and Centuari are both a long way away from anyone else

I'll send you the first draft.

Maybe they could integrate bigger maps in to the game. At this moment the biggest you can choose from custom game is HUGE, but there are mods which use sizes like GIGANTIC(RoM, Cave2Cosmos).

The current maps are all slightly larger than the standard maps. I would like to use bigger maps but wouldn't want an increase in the number of star systems such maps would bring. That said, it's one of many things still on the to do list.

I now have my game back up and running so I'll be looking to start work on the Mod again.

Seems when/if you incorporate larger map sizes, you could set the number of systems accordingly in the map scripts. Personally I pretty much always play the Final Frontier based games on the most sparse settings, so map scripts that are less dense by default would be welcome.

What is wrong if the AI doesn't colonize?

I've now done some work on the maps. All map sizes have been increased and a new map size added. Just to give things a different feel to a standard game of Civ I've also given them different names. I'll not spoil the surprise by telling you what they are.

I still have a lot more to do before I release a new version but when I do make the new version available i'm sure you'll be pleased with at least some of what I've done.

I'll try and keep you posted as I go.

Hi!

I have a problem. It started with that GFC problem, but I solved it. (I find the solution in your earlier post) The mod started, but when I begin a new game, it crashes with an application error. The earlier version of this mod worked perfectly, so I do not understand what is the problem. I disabled every other program, even the anti-virus, but it still crashed, i have made a memory test, but found nothing... Any idea?

Do the Logs tell you anything about the nature of the problem?

Have you made any changes of your own to the Mod?

Did it crash before the game actually started or did you end the first turn and then it crashed?

Thanks for respond so quickly!

Do the Logs tell you anything about the nature of the problem?

It's an Application popup id:26, information: Civ4BeyondSword.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x00605bc0" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".

Have you made any changes of your own to the Mod?

Just to repair the GFC problem. Nothing else.

Did it crash before the game actually started or did you end the first turn and then it crashed?

The MOD starts without problem, but when I try to start a new game, it crashes in the middle of the loading. (In setup map part of it)

It works! I had the Final Frontier, but it seems that the Final Frontier PLUS was needed. Thanks a lot! :D :goodjob:

Excellent news, hope you enjoy what we've done so far!

As promised previously I am slowly sorting things out and am moving towards a new version being released. That said, I still have a lot to do before that can happen so still cannot say when the next version will be ready.

Just to keep you interested, so far I've added 4 new promotions and massively re-organised the tech tree as well as having made the Minbari a little(lot) more unique. They now have a lot more Unique Buildings and I'm hoping to do the same with a few more of the Civs.

There's a few other things been changed too but I'm not going to give you all the changes now. You'll have to wait.

Greetings
Another small update. I've been ironing out some small issues with the tech tree, buildings and promotions. I've also merged in the Hidden Promotions ModComp by Platyping which will go a long way towards keeping the wonderful ship models by Premier visible.

No news yet on when I'll have the next version ready for release but I am putting a lot of effort into getting it all right for when it is released.

Btw, mod seems to lack music, at least at the early era didn't hear a thing.

It's not a biggy, yes, we can put it in ourselves, but end-users tend to be a lazy bunch sometimes :p
And the silence doesn't really help the immersion...
