A Civilisations colour

I'm having trouble finding where to change it.

Playing as Japan I spawned next to Greece and the Ottomans - two countries with whitetish colours on the minimap.

I also wish to change China's horrible green colour into a dark red. Where can I go about this?

yes it can be done. If you know how to use XML then look at Civilization.xml look at line called <CivilizationColour> and you can change it to whatever color you want. If you want to see examples of which color can be used then look at worldbuilder at changing colors.
