A Diplomatic Story Telling FFA.

In my experience with Civ4 Pitboss, the advantages of pitboss vs PBEM are well worth the wait.

sign me up. :)

This actually isn't a new idea. It is called a Diplogame (diplomacy game) and they play it over at apolyton a lot. I have tried to start one of these in the civ iv forum section but it died as well. I am definitely gonna participate in this! Sign me up too!

I could act as an alternate. I always try to engage in diplomacy, even with people I dont know no matter how ruthless they may be. Diplomacy does work even then.

Anyways sign me up (as an alternate if you have too many already) anna_tabbel is my account :D

You c an sign me up

I can wait for this game I am excited
I palyed where allways allways withouth diplomacy unfortently

Are we going to play with 12 players?

Is pitboss the best solution for such games? I hope so.

Pitboss should work fine for as many players as the game can handle--well, here's hoping. I don't think I'd even attempt over 6 players any other way...except maybe on a LAN.

Pitboss is best. That way with a turn timer we won't be held up if someone randomly drops out (that's why the one in the civ iv forum died.

I'm definately in! I always wanted Civ V to be more detailed, not necessary something that makes you win.
Civ IV had those random events, where a mine collapsed. You could either use money to help the people, build the mine up after the event, or just let it be. Choices make everything fun.

how many people watching this thread would be up for trying a PBEM using hotseat and manually sending saves? I thought I might give one a trial run, with as many as are interested. I'd sort the players based on timezones to try to keep the saves rolling around the planet nicely. :)

ps: a game on quick speed would take a year or so, if it went 300+ turns!

If it takes that much time, I'll pass.

Well it for sure will, and i hope we atleast go on normal. I am against going pbem because last time we tried it died because of one or two inactive members who would delay the game a week or two everytime it came to their turn.

I'd be in for starting a diplogame using PBEM now. I would still like to be involved in the big one that is going to start after the release of pitboss too.

maybe a PBEM warmup game?

also, does anyone know if a PBEM game can be switched to pitboss mid way through (was this possible in 4?)
