Please update the rules page for GOTM to take account of:
1. Utilities that are allowed for GOTMs. Can I use Mapstat? What other utilities are allowed or not? For disallowed utilities(considering that there might be no way to track all of them)a general listing of game effects for these utilities can be posted.
2. The Date of Release and Date of Submission. How you can miss this is beyond me.
3. And if I might suggest, also point a link to a defaulted civ3mod.bic file. Maybe not all of us know how to return it to default. (But shouldn't each savegame have its own rules already so a GOTM download would also keep the default rules intact within the file?)

I just thought that the rules page looked like the Civ3 Manual. Informative but not specific enough. Truth be told.:(

aaah... hold on a moment...

you did not answer any of my Q Matrix? Can anyone answer before...

nuts I'll answer my own questions.

1. Mapstat and graphic changing mods are allowed. Trainers and rule-changers are not.
2. End of the month?
3. I don't understand this part. Each savegame file also has the rules intact in it. So, supposedly, if you change the civ3mod.bic file it still will not change that savegame file's rules. Right? (Don't worry I defaulted my own Civ3mod.bic file by using the default option in Civ3edit. I proved it since the swordsman cannot be upgraded to the rifleman anymore.)

Add Q:
4. Should the files come to you compressed? If yes what formats are allowed (ACE, ZIP, RAR, LHA, UHA, ISO, BIN, CAB, ARJ, ARC, GZIP, TAR, Javasoft, Gziptar, or self extracting)?

Submission date is the by the end of 2nd day of the Month following the start of the GOTM in question, (time is your time zone). [Sept. 2 for GOTM10]

The game saves in compressed format and that is good enough. Some send in their games from the autosave folder which now defaults to uncompressed [so you should compress these but Iwon't comment on the type, but I would suspect that a zip file is most common. (A real shame these uncompressed autosaves cause the file editing cheaters have a slightly easier time with these files I suspect. I think your right about the bic file or at least that was the intent a while back.)

Hope this helps and is correct enough. ;)

This is my first post so go easy on me!!!!!, but as a idea maybe there could be say 2 divisons of GOTM say one up to regent and the second from monach to diety.

I have played four gotm's and normally play regent / monach, and seem to have no chance above monach, this months is emporer and will have a tough time getting a win

There have been several discussions of splitting up the GOTM Rooboy, but the fun of the GOTM is that you all play the same game and can compare everyone with everyone. Because in the GOTM it doesn't matter if you win or loose; what matters is if you performed better than others. :)

But a win certainly helps when trying to achieve that last part. ;)

Maybe for newer players having fun and comparing to and learning from veterans is an even more important aspect of the gotm than trying to perform better than others. :)

Rooboy if you're having trouble with the higher difficulty games maybe you should replay parts of an older gotm while looking at the discussion threads to see how veteran players tackle emperor/deity level.

Especially cracker's piece about his campaign against the Japanese in gotm9 and Zachriel's site about his previous gotm's are very informative (and fun to read besides :) )

It would also save me hell of a lot of time :)
