I was mulling over how I'd go about making ASOIAF mod, and it occurred to me that a political schemer (like a Littlefinger) would add some depth to the mod.

When I considered the posibilites in regards to the the usage of a unit like this, the only thing that came to mind would be a boost in diplomatic relationship.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

He (we always think of them as guys, right? ;) ) can have multiple actions just like other great people: one option is to pick populist politics to boost temporary happiness at the cost of some decrease in production; or pick nationalist politics to reduce war wearness with some decrease in gold (for propaganda); and another would be socialist politics to boost production at the cost of decreased gold tiles in a city. These are just some first thoughts. But having politicians, diplomats and generals as extra great people is a good start.

Uhm: the different doctrine could be nice with different civics. Something like

1) Socialists with state propretry -> people commissar
2) Nationalism with Police state or National Identity -> Hierarch (?)
3) Religious fervor with theocracy -> Mullah (?)
4) Loyalty for the king with heraldy -> Lealist or Viceroy

and other one...

Maybe he could lower city upkeed for a time (fights corruption) and etc.
But i think that there shall not be drawbacks for great politician (great leader?) abilities, it's very strange that after having invested so much in great people that it's actually a total inutility

Wouldn't these abilities to do things to cities for a certain number of turns be better reflected in his "super-specialist" option?
Why not have him be like the Prophet and Scientist and give him a special building like a Town Hall? It could reduce maintainance or increase Tax revenues.

Yeah, Littlefinger would definitely fit into both categories, but he's more dangerous in the game of thrones than he is as master of coin.

Great Politician would be OK, Great General/Military leader would be better.:)

No one said there couldn't be both.

Also, there are different kinds of politicians... I mean, when I hear the term "Great Politician", I think more of a Great Statesman... someone who may have played the dirty political game and played it well, but either did so for a greater good or at least appeared to his constituents as acting on behalf of a greater good... someone who is beloved by "the people". Whereas the other option would be the politician who would do nothing but further their own power and otherwise be a real sonuva*****.

A Great Statesmen could also have a sort of pleasing effect on rival civilizations. You could use him/her to smooth over relations with a neighbor you've been rather cool towards or who has fought a war with you in the past.
