a problem i have

K i have 300 posts, and i want to get a custom avatar, but most pictures on the internet show up as bitmaps on my comp; is there something i need to do?

Try saving them as JPGs; let us know if it works.

thats the problem, jpg or gif is no on the pull down list its only bitmap

Have you tried copying-and-pasting in Paint, then saving it as something else?

You take a picture, edit it to fit the standards (i.e. max 65 x 65 pixels), then convert it into jpg or gif (jpg is smaller, but gif can give better quality).

This comes up occasionally, explorer not allowing you to save as a jpg. . . try clearing your cashe. This seems to work.

But I would save it as a .bmp file, then convert it to.jpg in MSPaint.

The pull down tab doesnt come up in ms paint. BTW i deleted a pic that showed up in .gif and pasted this picture to get my avatar.

How do i clear my cache?

You can save a file as .gif and .jpg.... Just put the name and then put .gif behind it.

IE: AVATAR.gif

In IE, go to Tools>Internet Options, and click on Delete file in the middle box marked Temporary Internet Files.
