A Question For Thunderfall or a really powerful MOD!

Thunderfall or who ever ends up answering this I would like to know if you would let me have to password protected forums or threads to Use for a new Never Ending Story? The story requires two places for teams of five people to meet and discuss strategy and to actual play their part in the game. Its the New cold war game i want to mod. But i can't because we have to have ways to keep the teams from spying on each other outside of the ingame ways and to have open threads is to put to much trust in the individuals and they maybe good guys but its just to much temptation. So could you please help us and allow us to have these two password protected sub-forums or threads. Thank you for reading this.

Curently the forum software doesn't support password protected private forums, but this will change soon... The next version of vB will have the feature built in. It's expected to come out in early 2003.

Why don't you just post attachments that are password-protected word files or similar? Not as user-friendly as a password-protected forum, but possibly a viable workaround

Yeah, but it's password protected in a way... your account needs to be a moderator account.

I always use smiles

But your software already has a feature that allows you to set up forums which can only be accessed by only people that you give permission to. Granted, it's not a "password" system, but it can be set up

Hey, waitaminnit, that means you could have a CFC "bar"- we could scan our driver's licenses to be let in (and of course Europeans could just be allowed in automatically since they have no drinking age over there...)

Alright two more questions first can anyone tell me how to have password pretected attachments.

Second Thunderfall Can you make our registration something else so we could do what you do for the mods. Not make us the mods but like specializing us in a way so we could have those individual threads that are like your mod forum.

As far as Ainwoods suggestion, I think he meant you could use MS Word for your project and password protect those actual word documents.

To do that in MS Word 2000, you have your file open, then Choose, File, Save As. When the window opens that allows you to pick your save location, look in the upper right hand corner for a 'Tools' button.

From there, choose General Options, then at the bottom of that window it will have options for 'password to open' and 'password to modify'. Depending on how restricitve you want to get, you can have passwords in either one or both. Hit 'Ok', then save the file.

When it is sent to someone else, they have to know the password the be able to either open or modify the file, or both, depending on which ones you added passwords for. They can then modify the file then they can simply save it (with the passwords still on it) and repost it.

Like yeah . Talk about a total invasion of privacy. And you don't need that. A lot of porn sites use a system. This site registers you as 18+ and you type it in; you get instant access to that site.

You could register an account at Bravenet. They have a message forum and it can be password protected. It's much easier than having the discussion here and a lot safer, IMO.
