I've been playing this game as England which looked quite historically accurate up to about 1700 AD. I had the british empire at it's height when Napoleon declared war and attempted to seize Quebec City. Blah blah blah, he was crushed. What happened next is kind of interesting though... Spain and Germany joined in and declared war on France, and the Vikings on the three of us. A few turns later Peter joined in the fray and back stabbed the germans.

Since I didn't have a meaningful army to invade anyone with I just pillaged all the sea tiles and blockaded every port for a while. I also razed Napoleon's colonies in northern Quebec with a few redcoats, but those were very lightly defended. The germans caused the vikings to collapse in the early years of the war, and after what was maybe 50-60 years of bloodshed, Napoleon capitulated to me. I accepted, and seeing that he was dangerously unstable after losing lots of cities to spain I gave him communism and fascism and told him to switch to state property/police state in hope that it would save him. It did not, and France collapsed. Then Spain fanatically conquered all the new independents while the germans and the russians were still goin' at it. Isabella collapsed in 1803 and Freddy was gone a decade or so after that.

So now I'm left with a huge blob of independent cities that Russia has started expanding into. I think it's safe to say it will cause it to collapse in a very near future. Meanwhile Turkey has taken Istanbul but then turned it's focus south and has carved up a fairly large empire in North Africa and the Middle East (into the collapsed Egyptian, Ethiopian, and Arabian empires).

At least the rest of the world isn't as messed up, but with all the big players gone I have such a lead on everyone else that it's not really worth playing through to the end. Turkey and Russia could be brought to their knees very quickly. Portugal and the Netherlands were long gone before all of this happened. I made it a point to win my war against the Yanks when they spawned so they're also out of the game. Japan has won it's war against China and the Khmer [and vassalized them] and is the only other solid empire that can kinda keep up in techs, but not quite. I still have like 15-20 drill iv destroyers and Toku has like 4 frigates and 2 galleons...

Oh and India 'declared it's independence' at some point but strangely my cities there did not flip. I was pleasantly surprised because I was prepared to lose them to that event at some point. Ghandi's just too nice.

Anyways. Seeing as it's 4AM, I think I should probably go get some sleep.
Peace

Try going for Conquest. Also, with large independant areas like that, the cances of respawns are very big. (Coulkd you post a screenshot, btw? I'd love to see what it looks like.)

I would, but to be honest I have no idea where the screenshots go (or if they're taken at all) when I press the print screen button. I've looked in the game folder and couldn't find them.

My documents/my games/beyond the sword/screenshots usually.

Otherwise, post a save. I'd love to play this.

When I take a ss (screenshot) I press Print Screen and then the windows button. From there, I open up MS Paint, paste it, and save it. Then I go to PhotoBucket, and upload the pic. Then I copy the image link, paste onto a post, and then the image shows. But whenever I post a pic, I always spoil it because somebody may have a old, slow computer, not expecting pictures in a thread.

Also, look at post 26 in the OMG Thread.

C:\Documents and Settings\*Insert your account name*\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\ScreenShots

at least that is how it is on XP

It doesn't help. Pictures in spoilers will still load. The only difference is that they won't know why their page is loading slowly.

Using spoilers can make it so the page isn't stretched. Nothing to do with slow computers, but a valid reason.

Depends on the browser - not all load undisplayed pictures - for example Opera won't load spoilered pictures until you open them.

Cheers, LT.
