A Song of Ice and Fire

Hello everyone,

I've been playing this mod (ffh) and I'm DEEPLY impressed with the dedication, depth and skill put into this mod.

I was wondering, if anyone have read the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin?

In my opinion it's the best fantasy book series ever. What I want to ask is if anyone would be interested in making a mod out of this as it truly has great material for another fantastic mod.

What I can offer is ideas and information from the books as I've read them over and over again, and I wouldn't mind reading them over and over yet again.

You're not alone...

I think I've seen a thread about a Song of Ice and Fire mod somewhere (in the mods sub-forum ), but I didn't have time back than. In a few weeks I'm done with university and could actually join a project like this, since I absolutely love the series (and can't wait for the next book).
Of course without a programmer we don't even have to start. An artist is maybe not necessary since there are already so many nice units created (thanks to the FfH team mostly ). Still, for heroes (and there'd have to be all the main characters at least) it'd be very nice to have some unique art.

So, PM me if you want to start up a team!

While they seem to have jumped right into it I really prefer to have it all on paper before any building starts. I already have the board game so making a map should be fairly easy, atleast for most of the houses. I do believe Daenerys should have a place here, with her unsullied. This means we would have to have a land across the sea too.

I also would like to see the Night's Watch in here, but as their role is a special one we would have to discuss them quite a lot to get them to fit in.

As for timeline, perhaps at the start of the books and evolve from there? This does limit what houses we can use initially though, so perhaps we need to discuss this more.

Overall, it's my belief we really have to do some serious modding to take it far from any vanlilla game, and make it unique. A Song of Ice and fire is very much about politics and not so much about war, atleast earlier in the books.

I'd like to hear more peoples general idea first as well, so that we can gather those who generally have the same idea as we do, because no one wants to stray too far from their idea of what a Song of Ice and Fire mod would be like.
