I don't think where it occurs really matters, just so long as they were old enough, by law, to have sex.

Our teacher recently picked topics based on controversial issues for us to write about. But apparantly gay marriage was two far.
We're doing position papers in english class too!! Gay marriage is an acceptable topic though. I'm doing one on how schools shouldn't be allowed to only let us miss x amount of days if we keep our grades awesome cuz at my school if we miss > 30 days we get expelled. I'm at 27 days.

. Schools aren't just about grades. It's about knowledge and discipline. It's possible to get straight A's and not know a damn thing. And of course you won't get any discipline if you miss lots of days. The schools are so lenient and afraid to be hard on the kids now days, they literally just hand out A's.
no!! I only post before and after school. I haven't missed much lately, because I can't afford to. Even when I vommited all over the spanish room, my mom refused to pick me up and I had to stay in school.
At my school, no it is definitely not possible to do that. My school has a very good reputation. A's are very rare in honors classes. The college prep classes' A's are more common, but the average grade in honors classes is an 80%, which is a C. and in CP classes the average is an 85, which is a B+.

If this happened in a dorm like a college (students are over 18) then yes, there shouldn't be much of a problem as they are adults. The school, owning the dorms are responsible for what goes on there, but I don't see how they can be held responsible for people having consensual sex with each other. However, they do have a right to set rules for the students to follow while on the school's property, so the only fault here is that they let the other things happen (drugs and alcohol assuming that is illegal for them) go on and choosing to punish only the sex instead.
If the students are under 18 (not considered adults) the schools could be sued by the parents for allowing it to happen on the school's property, so the school is doing what it can to prevent it (doesn't change the fact it already happened, but prevents those specific students from doing it again on the school's property and serves as an example to others who might think about it).
