Good job Maynilad, follow the teachings if you are unsure.

I'm unsure of God's existence, but I follow the teachings of the Catholic Church nonetheless.

Ah, a tortured agnostic, or just an adherent to Pascal's wager?

In any case I recommend any film by Ingmar Bergman.

Colonel is making me realise that evangelising is essentially trolling for Jesus.

I'm not trying to scare you, just stateing a fact. Also God doesn't necessarily come to you on Judgement Day. Judgement Day comes as like a cataclysmic event, like all the nuclear weapons in the world being launched and going off all at once. Everyone would die, and on that day you would need to accept Christ as your savior.

wake me when its over...

yeah and he's doing it like we are some indigenous people from the 15th century...
think of something new, noone WANTS to believe in a naughty god that strikes everbody with his godly hatred nowadays, we're living in a time where everybody believes what is convenient...
want some good kharma by reading some koran suras? why not, but dont forget your buddha statue and voodoo puppets on the way to the library...
(funny story btw: last week i met a girl who explained to me that smoking weed from a bong tears holes in your shakra... well i think to remember she used the word shakra, could have been aura or kharma too ... furtunately for the poor girl there actually is a way to prevent this ;-) )
what you guys need is a BUDDY JESUS! :-)

:D You sir have just given the greatest working definition since the word "probably" ^_^ I salute you!

On god being an great big attention whore - for me, on a conceptual level, this isn't a bad argument in support of atheism against the Yahew/Allah figure. God is nothing if it is not perfect, s/he (all three pronouns used ^_^) yet, s/he/it produces a cruel game which has an imperfect result if the end game is salvation, blaming free will is a very weak counter to that in my view because a perfect being seems to have allowed for a whole lot of mistakes on their own part, doctrinally in Catholicism the angels are beings without free will (I know this is not true with Islam and there are non-god beings with godlike powers) yet, God *makes a mistake* and some of his perfect followers rebel and go make mischief against him... there is no salvation possible for Lucifer and the original rebels so even the judgement day story and all possible redemption fails...

I'm not tortured. Nor do I follow Pascal's wager. I just choose to believe in God, and follow the Catholic Church.
If God is God, Pascal's wager wouldn't matter, I choose to believe in God because He is God.

Pascal's wager relies on the belief that you can somehow fake belief without God realizing it. Since it's tough to play a trick on an omniscient God, I don't consider it a particularly convincing religious argument.

Actually, I am not sure it does. One might be able to convince oneself that one genuinely believes in God.

Not that I think Pascal's Wager is a good reason to believe in God (not that it is worthless, though. It has its uses.)

Yep, pretty much what Eran said.

Basically, I don't know if God exists or does not exist. That being the case, I choose to believe that he does exist.
