A Tale of Great Japan

I think this one's not as good as the last one, and I haven't finished the game yet.

This was a standard world. There were only two main continents and several islands. Japan, China, and Persia were on the Oriental Continent, whereas Rome and Greece were on the Occidental Continent.
The Japanese, a militaristic and religious people, gathered in the centre of the Oriental Continent. Queen Himiko, the great ruler in ancient Japan, unified the nomadic tribes, and the Japanese moved to the north and settled down. Queen Himiko was a divine ruler, and she was believed to have the protection from the War God, Bishamonten. Therefore the Yamato tribes were united and became the Japanese civilization.

The first city, Kyoto, was established. Kyoto literally means "capital city", and it was also the centre of Japanese culture. Japan grew undisturbed in isolation for many centuries. Culture and science developed greatly. In 300 B. C., a group of foreign scholars came into Japan. These people looked pretty similiar to the Japanese, but their outfits were somewhat different. The scholars were called "Chugoku-Jin"(Chinese), and they brought the secret of iron working to Japan. Surprised by their highly developed culture, Emperor Nintoku, the righteous ruler of Japan, decided to sent scholars to study "Chugoku"(China). The scholars arrived in the capital city, Chang'an, and met the Chinese sovereign, Emperor Gao-Zu. These scholars brought the secrets of writing and alphabets back to Japan, and reported to the Emperor about China. The Chinese were strong in culture, but weak in military. They had to always fear attacks of the Huns from the north. It would be best if China had the Great Wall. In any case, Japan and China remained at peace for many centuries.

The world was peaceful, perhaps too peaceful, that nothing happened until 1000 A. D. The Japanese discovered the secret of Construction. At this time, the Chinese were still threatened by the Huns and Mongols. They asked the now greater Japanese civilization for the secret of Construction so that they could build the Great Wall. The Japanese military leader, Taira No Kiyomori, firmly refused, because the Ainu to the north were also dangerous to Japan. This was the first time that Japan and China became hostile to each other. Furthermore, the Japanese settlers built many cities around the Chinese border. The Chinese monarch, King Cao Cao was furious. He suspected that Japan was trying to surround Chinese cities and eventually colonize them. Taira No Kiyomori decided to strike China with the strong Japanese military.

The main purpose of this war is to liberate the west coast of the Oriental Continent from China. Japan was in the middle of the Continent, therefore their activities were pretty much limitted. If Japan conquered China, they would have the access to the ocean, and, to the world. Hence, thousands of Japanese samurai were sent to invade China. China was indeed wealthy, the Japanese looted the cities badly. It was bad enough for China, but King Cao Cao suddenly died of heart attack. Japan would not miss this chance to conquer China, and more samurai were sent to the front. The national capital of China, Chang'an was captured, and the emperor was forced to flee the capital. King Liu Bei assassinated the emperor and declared himself now the rightful emperor of China. It was very sad for the Chinese to have a power-hungry ruler at this catastrophic moment. However, Emperor Liu Bei was no easy mark. He organized the Chinese against the Glorious Japanese Conquest successfully.

The attempt to conquer China was not successful, but Japan did capture the national capital of China, and a city on the coast, Chengdu. Japan was forced to make peace with China, because a desperate revolution had begun in Japan. Mimamoto No Yoritomo overthrew the Heishi family, and founded the Kamakura Shogunate, which was the first Shogunate in Japan. Shogun Mimamoto No Yoritomo, as the commander-in-chief of the Japanese military, now had more power than the emperor. Japanese ships were sent to the west, but many of them were lost in the dangerous storms. The Shogun's younger brother, Mimamoto No Yo****sune, came to the city of Chengdu, and organized the labourers to build the Great Lighthouse. His work was great, but too great, that the Shogun forced him to commit hara-kiri. A few decades later, the Great Wall was built and Japan no longer feared the Ainu. The Ainu were eventually assimilated and became part of the Japanese civilization.

Japanese ships finally discovered the Occidental Continent. The Chinese had not yet found it either, therefore this was a great advantage. The Greeks had the greatest culture that Japan had ever seen. They were technologically advanced. Perhaps it was because the Greeks had been trading advances with Rome in the ancient era. The Greeks generously traded their world map with Japan. However, a war seemed to be going on between Rome and Greece. Explorers were sent to the front to investigate how the war was going. The explorers witnessed the fall of Sparta to the Roman legionaries. The Shogun felt that it was a good chance to exploit the Greeks as much as possible. Japan gave a lot to the Greeks in return for all the technologies. The Romans would then conquer the Greeks, so Greece would not be strengthened, but the Romans weakened. Some explorers also found a civilization in the east. To be precise, it was not really a civilization, but a poor, cowardly tribe no better than a strong barbarian kingdom. Five thousand samurai were sent to conquer the little tribe. The tribe was so weak, that no one ever remembered its name. The Japanese only remembered the tribe was called "Persia" or something like that...

I hope that the War God, Bishamonten will always look after the Great Mighty Japanese and may the Great Japanese armies be as swift as the wind, as silent as the woods, as fierce as the fire, and as composed as the mountains!

Wonderful. Knowledge of japanese history also helps. I wish you great success in your dealings with the gai-jin!

Actually I'm still playing the Chinese...:D
I attacked the weak Roman Empire, and then tricked the Romans big time. I somehowmanaged to get three cities from the Romans for free...
They also asked for a mutual protection, and I agreed without thinking about it. Then I suddenly realized that I had a military alliance with the Frech and the English against the Romans...
Ouch, they were the strongest civilizations in the world!
I tried to sort things out by negotiating with them, but they were so furious that they wouldn't even listen to me.
Now my capital city is in danger. The French settled on some small islands near Beijing, and lots of English men-o-war were ready to attack my puny navy.
And the Romans betrayed me...
Never underestimate a weak civilization...:nuke:
